The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives here. Via Petroni runs right through one of those neighborhoods where you’ve got your morning coffee spots (there’s this little place two blocks down that locals queue up at), some great osteria tucked into side streets, and you’re close enough to the centro storico that you can walk there in about fifteen minutes. But here’s the thing – you’re far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds every time you step outside. I stayed here during spring when the university was in session, and there’s something really nice about being around that academic buzz without the chaos you get closer to Piazza Maggiore.

The staff – and this might sound small but it matters – actually seem to know the city beyond just the major attractions. When I asked about where to grab an aperitivo that wasn’t completely overrun with tourists, the guy at reception gave me three specific places within walking distance and was spot-on about which one would be quieter on a Tuesday night. The rooms themselves are well-designed without being sterile; good beds, solid wifi, and the bathrooms are properly modern. I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the “boutique hotel” aesthetic – sometimes you just want a place that feels comfortable and gets the basics right. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me; it’s the kind of place where small details are handled well, from check-in being genuinely smooth to the fact that the windows actually block out street noise (which, let’s be honest, can be hit or miss in Italian cities). If you’re looking for somewhere that feels authentically Bologna without sacrificing comfort, this is exactly what you want.
