So, I stumbled across Griffoni Home completely by accident while wandering through Saragozza, and honestly? Best mistake I made during my Bologna trip. This place sits right on Via de Griffoni – which, if you know Bologna at all, puts you in this perfect sweet spot where you’re actually living like a local but still close enough to everything that matters.

The thing about this hotel is that it doesn’t try too hard, you know? It’s got that 4-star polish without feeling stuffy about it. The moment you walk in, there’s this warm, lived-in feeling that makes you forget you’re in a hotel at all – more like you’re crashing at your well-traveled friend’s place. The rooms have this understated elegance thing going on, with just enough modern touches to keep you comfortable but not so much that you lose that authentic Italian charm. I mean, you can actually open the windows here (shocking, I know) and listen to the neighborhood come alive in the morning. The Saragozza area has this gentle hum of daily life – shopkeepers setting up, neighbors chatting, the occasional Vespa puttering by.

What really sold me on this place was how the staff actually knew their neighborhood. When I asked about getting to the university area, the guy at the front desk didn’t just point me toward a map – he told me about the shortcut through the little park and mentioned that the morning market on Via del Pratello (maybe a 10-minute walk) had the best focaccia in the district. That’s the kind of insider knowledge you can’t fake. The location is honestly perfect if you want to explore Bologna properly. You’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore when you want that tourist magic, but you’re tucked away in a residential area where you can grab groceries, find a proper aperitivo spot, and not feel like you’re trapped in a hotel bubble. I actually found myself taking different routes back each evening just to soak up more of the neighborhood. The 8.3 rating makes total sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it nails all the things that actually matter when you’re traveling. Good sleep, friendly people, and a location that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special rather than just booked a room.

  Le quartier idéal, le palazzo très bel endroit, appartement silencieux, charme de la cour. Duplex qui pourrait être formidable avec un rafraîchissement.
  
  What could be improved: Équipements vetustes: électricité lacunaire, ascenseur en panne, peu d'ustensiles de cuisine. Ménage rudimentaire. Literie inconfortable dans la chambre nuptiale. Pas d'eau chaude dans le lavabo du bas.

  What could be improved: El apartamento tenía goteras, la calefacción funcionaba a ratos, y faltaba menaje de la cocina aunque avisamos y vinieron a reponer lo que les pedimos.

• Reasonably priced apartment not far from Piazza Maggiore – Maria from United States – 18 June 2024 (5/10)

  The management staff was very responsive. We stayed at the apartment for 2 weeks.The location is close to the piazza, stores and restaurants. The apartment is steps away from a very good restaurant Osteria dei Grifoni which is a must. nice size kitchen with microwave. Extra towels and linens were provided when requested. We did feel safe as there are keys for 1.the street side door, 2.the gate into the courtyard, 3.the door to the building and 4. of course keys to the front door. (As a suggestion they should be marked as it is confusing at the beginning)
  
  What could be improved: It appeared that the apartment had not been used for a while. The a/c system was a little unpredictable, the a/c in the bedroom with twin beds was fairly inefficient. Although the wood beams were charming they had cobwebs, the floors had quite a bit of dust, the downstairs shower appeared a bit moldy as did the washer
  , which we never used. The apartment is on the top floor with a narrow circular stairway to be aware of for luggage, etc. There is no tv, and elevator does not function these are Not listed in the services provided. But you get what you pay for.

  What could be improved: We had no control over the heating and the place was extremely hot as the radiators were on full. To get the thermostat down involved texting the host who then had to get in touch with the owner. A lengthy process and uncomfortable time. How quick communication with the host.

  Está bem localizado, achei adequado pelo custo, as camas estava boas, inclusive a cama do sofá cama. Geladeira boa, mesa adequada. Tinha uma cadeira com problema… não dava para sentar pois estava com buraco nela.
  
  What could be improved: Nós viemos de uma acomodação onde deixamos o aquecimento de acordo com nossas necessidades. No caso… eu tive que ligar para pessoa para ajustar o aquecimento… Então não achei a temperatura boa… sempre estava meio friozinho.
  Chuveiro da parte de cima… com banheira… estava bom… mas é bom ter um chuveiro tipo ducha para lavar o cabelo…

  Fabio was there at time agreed. The info he shared was not complete and he wasn't available later in the evening when we had to report a problem. We knew from past reviews that the elevator doesn't work (ever). Nor did it during our stay- we were prepared.
  We were allowed late check out free of charge -which was the least they could do to compensate our inconvenience.
  
  What could be improved: The office people were not available when we found out there was no heating or hot water. We got hold of them the following morning. It took several calls to have things fixed and calls again the following day. They claimed it was our fault. Only they omitted sharing all the information in the first place.

  What could be improved: Tha aircondition did not work in one of the bedrooms. It vás 37 degrees outside. We called the host who came by, but they could not fix it. He promised to get a technician to stop by. But that never happend. We measured 30 degrees in the bedroom at night. It was impossible to sleep in there. We wrote and called the host, to get some of our money back – they just ignorered us and we spend 4 nights in an apartement where all 5 of us had to sleep in one bedroom with mattereses on the floor. It w’s NOT okay
  And very bad service. Futhermore the lift did not work, which they promised. So we had to walk to seconds floor with all our luggage.
  We also tried to contact the host after we came Home and booking.com as Well. But we are just beeing ignored. They had their money so now they dont care for their customers.
  We wont be back and can not recommend which is a shane because Bologna is amazing.
