You know what caught me off guard about Golden Suite by Studio Vita? I was expecting another generic boutique place, but this actually feels like staying in someone’s incredibly well-designed apartment – if that someone happened to have impeccable taste and a serious budget. The building on Via Canonica has this understated elegance that’s so typically Bolognese, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better if you tried.

I mean, you’re literally three minutes from Piazza Maggiore on foot, which sounds too good to be true until you’re actually doing it. What’s brilliant is that Via Canonica itself is this quiet side street, so you get zero of the tourist chaos but all of the access. The morning I stayed, I grabbed coffee at that little place around the corner on Via dell’Indipendenza (locals were lined up, always a good sign), then wandered over to the covered markets before most tourists even figured out where they were. The whole Santo Stefano complex is basically next door too – perfect for those early evening strolls when the light hits the medieval stones just right.

The suites themselves are where Studio Vita really shows off. Everything feels custom-made rather than ordered from some hotel catalog, and the attention to detail is honestly impressive. The bathroom alone probably cost more than most people’s monthly rent – marble that actually feels warm somehow, and a shower system that makes you want to stay in longer than you should. The beds are proper comfortable (not that firm European hotel standard that leaves you aching), and there’s this sitting area by the windows where you can actually watch Bologna wake up. Storage space is generous too, which matters when you’re doing that whole “pack light but still look decent for dinner” thing.

What I really appreciated was how quiet everything stays despite being so central. The windows do their job, and the building itself has thick walls – none of that paper-thin modern construction. Check-in was smooth, no hovering or unnecessary explanations, just efficient and friendly. The staff clearly knows the city well; they pointed me toward this incredible osteria on Via del Pratello that I never would have found otherwise.

The 9.2 rating makes complete sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be flashy or Instagram-perfect, just genuinely well-executed hospitality. The kind of place where everything works properly – decent WiFi, excellent water pressure, air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a jet engine. Small things, but they add up when you’re trying to enjoy a city like Bologna.

If you’re the type who wants to feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting it, this place gets it right. You’re close enough to duck into the university area for aperitivo, far enough from the train station to avoid that constant flow of rolling suitcases, and the whole setup just makes sense for actually experiencing the city. Worth the splurge, especially if you’re staying more than a night or two.

  The location was excellent and in a quiet area. It had all the facilities we needed, washing machine, ironing board and iron, dishwasher and coffee machine. We chose not to cook but there was everything available to do so. For 4 adults it

  The flat and location were absolutely perfect. Clean and very functional, perfect for a week stay for a family with a young child. However would be great for a adults only too.
  
  What could be improved: Only negative comment, not related to the property itself, was a nearby dog that lived downstairs and was barking most nights and days. Also the flat doesn't have a lift and although it's on the first floor only, it will still need some stairs to be done.

  Apartment was around the corner from Bologna’s city centre and main tourist attractions (Due Torre, Piazza Maggiore, Fontana di Nettuno). An abundance of bars and restaurants to choose from to eat, drink and try typical Bolognese dishes (think mortadella, prosciutto di Parma, tortellini, lasagne, parmigiano reggiano, squacquerone). Kitchenette with ample utensils, plates, cutlery, cups as well as dishwasher, fridge, oven and gas stovetop was great for breakfasts! Providing coffee pods and water was greatly appreciated. Staff were friendly, prompt to respond to messages and assisted with queries and questions.
  
  What could be improved: Blinds/curtains aren’t block out for those who prefer to sleep in darkness, the morning light does come through – makes it perfect to start the day early to see all that Bologna has to offer!

  Marvellous location, pristine clean and modern with exceptional facilities and excellent layout of the two rooms providing privacy as well as great common area in the dining-kitchen sitting room. Excellent and timely response to all our needs.
