So I ended up at GetThekey San Vitale for a long weekend in Bologna, and honestly? It’s one of those places that gets better the longer you stay. The apartment sits right on Via San Vitale – which, if you know Bologna at all, puts you in this sweet spot between the university quarter and the historic center. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but somehow you avoid most of the tourist chaos that comes with staying right in the thick of things.

The building itself has that classic Bolognese feel – you know, those warm terracotta walls and shuttered windows that make every street look like a postcard. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stayed, even though you’re practically downtown. The apartment faces an internal courtyard (thank god), so you don’t get the usual street noise that can drive you crazy in Italian cities. The setup is pretty spacious for European standards – actually feels like someone’s home rather than a sterile hotel room. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which matters when you’re in a food city like Bologna and want to grab fresh pasta from the market and actually do something with it.

Here’s what really sold me on the place: the neighborhood vibe is absolutely perfect. You’ve got students mixing with locals, which means the bars and cafés stay lively without being touristy. There’s this little osteria called Al Cambio maybe two blocks away that I never would’ve found if I’d stayed near the main squares – the kind of place where they know everyone’s order and the ragu actually tastes like someone’s nonna made it. The 8.1 rating makes sense to me… it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything works exactly as it should. Check-in was smooth (they send you codes digitally, very straightforward), and when I had a question about laundry, someone got back to me within an hour. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi can be a bit spotty if you’re trying to work – not terrible, but don’t expect lightning speeds. But honestly, you’re in Bologna… maybe put the laptop away and go find some tortellini instead.

  The location was perfect—right in the centre, with everything within walking distance. I visited the San Luca Basilica, which offers a fantastic view over the city. It’s a must-do for every traveller.

  We liked the location it was right near great restaurants and the city centre and close to everything shopping and restaurant wise . Also near a grocery store which was handy if you have a family .
  3 bed / 3 bathroom was also fantastic and the beds were very comfortable to sleep in .
  
  What could be improved: We were not able to have a hot shower during our stay . If you like your hot showers in winter which we do , that was very disappointing .
  The first person can have a Luke warm/ almost cold shower for 5 minutes and then the water does not heat up for hours again .

  Great location – close to the University, so very convenient for us. Walking distance to the city centre and all principal attractions there. Good shopping.
  
  What could be improved: There were a lot of keys, and we had to try all the keys to find the right one to open the grating to access the flat's front door. Not a huge problem though!
