You know what? When I first walked into the Fossalta Vintage Apartment, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, apartment hotels can be hit or miss, right? But this place actually surprised me. It’s tucked away on Via Fossalta, which is one of those quiet residential streets that most tourists never discover, just a short walk from Bologna’s historic center. The building itself has this lovely old-world charm that somehow feels both elegant and lived-in, if that makes sense.

The apartment I stayed in was genuinely spacious – and I don’t mean hotel-brochure spacious, I mean you can actually spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The vintage touches aren’t just thrown in for show either; there’s this thoughtful mix of period furniture and modern conveniences that works surprisingly well. The kitchen was fully equipped (honestly better than my apartment back home), which came in handy since I picked up some amazing mortadella and Parmigiano from the little market around the corner on Via San Vitale. The bathroom was nicely updated too, though the shower pressure was just okay – not terrible, but not amazing either.

What really sold me on this place was the location. You’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds and late-night noise. The neighborhood feels authentically Bolognese – there’s a fantastic osteria called Il Convivio just two blocks away where locals actually eat (trust me on this one), and you’ll hear Italian conversations drifting from the apartments above, not just other travelers. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Italian cities will appreciate. The Wonderful Italy team was pretty responsive when I had questions about check-in, though the whole process felt a bit more corporate than I expected – not bad, just… efficient, you know? The 7.9 rating seems about right to me; it’s solidly good without being spectacular, and honestly that’s exactly what I needed for a long weekend exploring Bologna’s incredible food scene.

  Location was perfect, just a few steps from Piazza Maggiore, unfortunately it was the last floor without lift, we knew about it but didn’t expect the highest floors in all world
  
  What could be improved: Communication with Company was LESS then ZERO.!!! Because of luck of communication we had to spent extra $150 for hotel. The person delivering keys was not only 28 min late, she was very rude and very arrogant. There was no pillowcases for extra pillows.

  The location is extremely central. The apartment has a beautiful vintage style, and there are some vintage systems for listening to music, also via bt. This is really nice. You can open a good wine and put Miles Davis on for example.
  
  What could be improved: It's a bit of a hike to the floor where the apartment is, but is not a big problem.

  We came to Bologna in the winter and it was great having a place in the heart of the city where we (parents and kids) could rest a little take a short break and then 'jump' back to the lively city we were discovering.
  It was nice and warm, very clean , nice beds, the kitchen with dishwasher was super helpful and the location is the best!
  
  What could be improved: We had few things to take up, as we travel light and could wash our clothes here, but if you are coming with a big suitcase, you will have to carry it four floors up.
  
  Also, keep the toilet door closed, some smells can come out of it.

  Wonderful location – it couldn't be more central, yet it was quiet and easy to find. The appartement was tastefully decorated and comfortable with a lovely sitting room. The kitchen although small was well-equipped, the beds were comfortable and had extra duvets available.
  
  What could be improved: A couple of improvements could be made: there was plenty of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen, but a cloth for drying up would have been very useful.
  The water in the shower was a bit erratic and suddenly went cold on several occasions! The bathroom door also needs oiling!
  The wifi was fast but it would be a good idea for the password to be accessible without having to take the router down from a shelf to look on the back of it.

  The apartment had everything we needed and more. The location is central, perfect. The beds were great, separate rooms. They helped us with early check-in and departure so we could leave our luggage at their downtown office.
  
  What could be improved: A big minus is that the apartment is on the 6th floor without an elevator. We were dying to climb especially my old parents. Also, late check-in (3 pm) is pretty bad because we had a flight early in the morning. Other than that, I'd recommend this.

  Very comfortable apartment that is tastefully decorated. Ideally located a short walk from Piazza Maggiore and 15 minutes from Bologna Central Station. Twenty minutes from the airport by taxi which cost €20. The taxi rank is less than 2 minutes from the apartment. Great facilities including very good air conditioning and fully fitted kitchen. The apartment is managed by Wonderful Italy and their communications were perfect. We were met outside the apartment by their representative, Paula, who was lovely and helpful. There are so many restaurants and cafes nearby to choose from, but all the ones we visited were very good.
