Casa Pegaso in Canton de Fiori Overview
You know what struck me first about Casa Pegaso? It’s actually tucked into this quiet corner of Via Rizzoli where you can hear the morning market vendors setting up in Piazza Maggiore just a few blocks away, but somehow the street noise doesn’t really penetrate the building. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Bologna’s medieval center here – I could walk to the Two Towers in maybe eight minutes, and the university quarter is right there if you head down Via Zamboni. The building itself has that slightly worn elegance that Italian places do so well, where the marble in the lobby is genuinely old but polished to a shine, and the elevator makes those charming little mechanical sounds that remind you you’re not in some cookie-cutter chain hotel.
What really gets me about this place is how the staff actually seems to know Bologna, not just the tourist Bologna but the real city. The woman at the front desk (honestly can’t remember her name, but she had these great vintage glasses) gave me directions to this little osteria that I never would have found otherwise, and when I mentioned I was interested in the covered markets, she knew exactly which stalls had the best mortadella. The rooms are surprisingly quiet for being so central – mine faced an internal courtyard, so I slept really well even though I was staying in July when the city gets pretty lively at night. The AC actually worked properly, which isn’t something you can take for granted in older Italian buildings, and there’s this nice touch where they leave a little bottle of local wine when you check in. Nothing fancy, just a decent Sangiovese from the hills outside the city, but it felt thoughtful rather than corporate.
Here’s the thing about staying here – you’re going to walk everywhere, and that’s exactly what you want in Bologna. I never once thought about taking a taxi or dealing with parking (which is honestly a nightmare in the centro storico anyway). The morning coffee at the little bar around the corner became part of my routine, and by day three the barista was already starting my cappuccino when he saw me coming. It’s that kind of neighborhood feel, even though you’re surrounded by some of the most important medieval architecture in Italy. The hotel doesn’t try to be flashy or over-the-top luxury – it’s just solidly comfortable with this understated Italian style that feels more authentic than a lot of the boutique places trying too hard to be Instagram-worthy. If you’re the type who wants to actually experience Bologna rather than just take photos of it, Casa Pegaso gets you into the rhythm of the city without any fuss.

Reviews of Casa Pegaso in Canton de Fiori
Very good – Steven from United Kingdom – 29 May 2025 (8/10)
Very central. The block is on the main square. Quiet, because it’s high up and facing away (no views though).
Very spacious. Comfy bed and sofa bed. Kitchen area is good. A bit of hanging space.
Instructions how to get in were easy to follow.
What could be improved: Some washing machine tablets would have been useful.
There’s no view which is a shame. On the other hand, you can just walk out of the door!Great stay. Seemless no contact check in and responsive hosts – Eno from Albania – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
The location cannot be better! The apt is also nice and spacious. There’s a bar right downstairs for breakfast.
What could be improved: I have read it before in the comments and I confirm the blinds at the top level need fixing.Beautiful place with perfect location. Highly recommended. – Saulius from Lithuania – 24 April 2025 (10/10)
Location is perfect and place is very nice.
What could be improved: Car parking and informatin about parking and driving restrictions should be better articulated.Perfect location, great space, comfortable bed, natural light! – Samantha from United States – 4 April 2025 (10/10)
The space was gorgeous and super clean and great location! Loved all the natural light! Hosts were very thorough with their communication. They gave us recommendations of wonderful restaurants. They have a washer, which was really nice to do our laundry. They have a lift, which is nice since it’s on the top floor and they have someone working at the front who is very helpful.
What could be improved: The bathroom has a bit of a smell but I think that is normal with an older building not that big of a deal.Fantastic apartment in heart of Bologna – Menzo from Netherlands – 25 February 2025 (10/10)
Apartment at the very heart of Bologna, spacious and stylish. I could check in early, contact was easy and fast with the owner.
Fabulous apartment in epi center of Bologna – Ilija from North Macedonia – 27 January 2025 (10/10)
Great design, located at the heart of Bologna, we really enjoyed our stay!
What could be improved: Main bed on ground flat was very uncomfortable and difficult for sleeping
There was no clean blanket plusDetail oriented and stunning!! – Alex from United States – 25 December 2024 (10/10)
Everything was perfect! The attention to detail was so nice!!
I wanted to live in this apartment – Tyson from United States – 15 December 2024 (10/10)
This apartment was so amazing . First it’s in the best location in bologna right on the main square with all the restaurants and shopping yet you couldn’t hear anything inside the apartment . It was so quiet . The apartment was so stylish inside and modern and clean . Great coffee machine with coffee cups included . The shower was so big with amazing water pressure And got really hot.
What could be improved: No smart tv which i just don’t understand in this day and age so you couldn’t even airplay or stream from phone or iPad . I had to watch movies on my iPad because the channels were only in Italian . Bring your fire stick or Roku stick to watch Netflix etcExceptional – Ion from Romania – 13 December 2024 (10/10)
Great design of the apartment, very cozy and cool. Nice artwork inside, nice bookcase with old books. It really is a great acommodation
What could be improved: It was kinda cold inside. Mostly because Italy dosesnt allow to set the temperature too high in homes because of the energy crisis. But it was manageable.Exceptional – Gee from United Kingdom – 30 November 2024 (10/10)
The location could not be better
