You know what struck me first about Elle Home? The name actually makes sense once you’re inside – it genuinely feels like staying at someone’s well-appointed apartment rather than a typical hotel. I mean, Via del Pozzo 5 isn’t exactly where most tourists end up (it’s in the Savena district, which honestly most visitors have never heard of), but that’s sort of the point. You’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the historic center, which sounds inconvenient until you realize you’re paying way less than those cramped places near Piazza Maggiore and getting way more space.

The building itself has that understated Italian elegance – nothing flashy, just solid and comfortable in a way that makes you want to actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it. The rooms are what I’d call “apartment-style” – there’s a kitchen area that’s actually functional, not just a mini-fridge and a sad coffee maker. The bathroom products smell like something you’d buy for yourself, not that generic hotel soap that makes your skin feel weird. What really got me was the attention to small details… good lighting for reading, outlets where you actually need them, and – this might sound silly – hangers that aren’t permanently attached to the closet rod.

The Savena area grows on you pretty quickly. There’s a decent alimentari about two blocks down where the owner will help you pick out prosciutto even if your Italian is terrible (trust me on this one), and the 14 bus line runs frequently enough that getting into the city center becomes routine rather than a whole production. Honestly, I started looking forward to those bus rides – you see parts of Bologna that tourists completely miss, like the morning market on Via Libia or those incredible murals near the university district. The neighborhood gets quiet after dinner, which means you’ll actually sleep well instead of dealing with drunk study-abroad students stumbling around at 2 AM.

Here’s the thing about Elle Home – the 9.4 rating isn’t inflated. It’s one of those places where someone clearly thought through what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos. The WiFi works everywhere (even in the bathroom, if that’s your thing), the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and check-in was refreshingly straightforward. The staff knows the area well enough to recommend that little osteria on Via Massarenti that doesn’t even have a sign – you know, the kind of place where you end up having the best meal of your trip.

If you’re the type who needs to be stumbling distance from the Basilica di San Petronio, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you want to experience Bologna more like someone who lives here – grabbing morning espresso from the same bar every day, chatting with shopkeepers who remember your face, discovering that perfect little park for an afternoon read – then Elle Home gets it right. It’s comfort and convenience without the tourist markup, in a neighborhood that feels authentically Bolognese rather than like a movie set.

  Elle Home is really cozy, the bedroom is comfortable and the whole place is clean. The kitchen is well-equipped with a nice coffee machine. Recommended!

  Appartamento grande e luminoso, pulito e con tutti i comfort possibili, tutti gli spazi della casa curati nei minimi dettagli, soprattutto bagno e cucina. Lidia è una persona accogliente e disponibile, attenta alla comunicazione.
  Fermata del bus a pochi metri, quindi anche la posizione è molto comoda. Siamo stati davvero bene.
