It’s tucked right on Via Milazzo, which is this lovely residential street that feels properly Bolognese – you’ll hear locals chatting from their balconies in the morning and catch the scent of fresh pasta from nearby kitchens around dinner time.

The location is just… well, it’s perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting it. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds right outside your door. There’s this fantastic little alimentari just down the street where the owner (I think his name was Marco?) will slice prosciutto so thin it’s practically transparent, and honestly, that’s worth mentioning because finding good local spots can make or break a trip. The building itself has that elegant Italian apartment feel – high ceilings, original hardwood floors that creak just enough to remind you you’re in a historic building, and these gorgeous tall windows that let in incredible light during the day.

What really impressed me was the attention to detail – the kind of stuff that tells you someone actually cares about this place. The coffee machine was a proper Italian one (not some pod nonsense), there were these beautiful ceramic pieces that looked locally made, and the bathroom had this amazing rainfall shower that actually had decent water pressure. I’ve stayed in five-star places in Rome where the shower was basically a sad drizzle, so you know, these things matter. The bed was genuinely comfortable too – sometimes apartment rentals skimp on mattresses, but this one was just right. The only minor thing I’d mention is that Via Milazzo can get a bit lively on weekend evenings since there are some popular spots nearby, but honestly, I found the sounds of people enjoying themselves kind of charming – it felt authentic, you know?

The 9.8 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top impressive, but everything just works beautifully. The check-in process was smooth (they actually met me at the property, which was refreshing), and when I had a question about where to find the best tortellini in the area, they didn’t just give me some generic tourist recommendation – they told me about this tiny place near the university where students go, and it was absolutely incredible. That’s the kind of local knowledge that transforms a good trip into an unforgettable one.

  Das Appartement ist sehr empfehlenswert und die Vermieter haben sich ausgezeichnet um uns gekümmert. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 4 Erwachsenen und es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Der Kühlschrank war bei unserer Ankunft voll gefüllt und wir konnten am nächsten Morgen ein gutes Frühstück genießen. Jederzeit wieder!!!

  The Charming Flat is in a perfect location, easy to get to from the airport, easy to go out to the center of Bologna. The Host is extremely helpful and nice, answering promptly any questions and requests through whatsapp. The Flat is indeed charming, lots of space for a bigger family or group of friends. I appreciate also taking into account our stay with a 3year old – additional crib, potty, high chair, etc.

  Not enough towels for hands. Second bathroom is actually a toilet with sink, no shower there, we were 4, so sometimes needed a towel, but it was in a occupied bathroom.

  The property was exceptionally clean and the owners had left a few provisions to start off our stay which was very thoughtful. The rooms were all a very good size and the kitchen well equipped with everything we needed.
