Cesare Battisti Apartment Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to 13 Via Cesare Battisti, I almost walked right past it. The entrance is tucked away in this gorgeous residential building, and you’d never guess there’s a proper apartment rental inside unless you knew what to look for. But that’s actually part of the charm, you know? You’re staying in the heart of Saragozza, which is easily one of Bologna’s most authentic neighborhoods – no tourist traps, just real Bologna life happening all around you.
The apartment itself sits on the first floor (that’s the second floor for us Americans), and honestly, it’s got that perfect balance of old-world Italian character without feeling like you’re roughing it. The ceilings are high, the windows are those classic shuttered ones that actually keep the summer heat out, and there’s this lived-in warmth that you just can’t fake. What really got me though was how quiet it is at night – I mean, you’re literally in the city center, but Saragozza has this residential vibe where people actually live and work, not just party until 3 AM. The morning sounds are perfect too… church bells, café owners setting up, maybe some Italian grandmother calling to her neighbor from a window.
Here’s what you need to know practically speaking – the Via Cesare Battisti location is absolutely killer if you want to experience Bologna like a local. You’ve got Osteria del Sole maybe a seven-minute walk away (bring your own food, they only serve wine and beer), and the covered markets at Mercato di Mezzo are close enough that you’ll probably end up there every morning for coffee and pastries. The apartment itself feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a hotel, which I actually prefer – there’s a kitchen if you want to cook with those incredible ingredients from the market, and the whole setup just encourages you to slow down and live a bit instead of rushing between tourist sites. The only thing I’d mention is that check-in requires a bit of coordination since it’s not a traditional hotel front desk situation, but the hosts were super responsive and made it work perfectly. At 8.5 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there myself, I get why people keep coming back to this little slice of authentic Bologna life.

Reviews of Cesare Battisti Apartment
Very good – Bogdan from Romania – 17 July 2025 (8/10)
Clean, good location, nice terrace
What could be improved: Unfortunately we had quite an unpleasant experience with the register process. Even though we followed all the steps mentioned in the conversation with the property, they asked for a second video-call with us and the ID’s because they said they weren’t able to identify our data on them and to make sure it is us. We are european citizens and their request it was quite an abuse because it was never mentioned that. Not to say about the european GDPR regulationsLoved bologna and the location, wish I could stay longer. – Carvalho from United States – 19 May 2025 (7/10)
Beautiful old building with internal courtyards, clean and spacious
What could be improved: Shower door gasket needs replaced, leaked water on floor. Caulking looks ready to replace too, showing signs of mold. Single beds were for short people.I would repeat the stay again!! – Noemi from Spain – 29 April 2025 (9/10)
The location and the easiness to do the checkin/out.
Exceptional – Vlad from Romania – 18 November 2024 (10/10)
Very nice ap, in a historic building, located 5 min walking from city center
What could be improved: Dishes have not been properly washed before us – hard to be observed by the cleaning personnel….Adds to the wonderful Bologna experience – Stevechong001 from New Zealand – 11 November 2024 (10/10)
Professionally managed and made our wonderful stay in Bologna exceptional, check-in and check out was straight forward. Comfortable and quiet considering the huge road works down the road – we never heard any noise. A centrally heated apartment kept us warm during the cold nights. I pays to read the provided documentation which is in English. The on site instruction manual for the washing machine is in Italian, but the online provided one is in English. Location is superb with supermarkets and tourist attractions a few minutes walk away.
What could be improved: One of the best apartment stays, there was nothing to dislikeSuperb – Lesley from United Kingdom – 20 September 2024 (9/10)
Historic lovely flat in centre of Bologna. Very comfy beds and clean
What could be improved: WiFi a bit intermittent but that could have been because of the stormy weatherWonderful time in Venice staying at this apartment – Lois from Australia – 8 June 2024 (10/10)
Great location 150 metres from St Marks Square. Everything we needed. Very clean. Great value for money considering it is an apartment.
What could be improved: Spiral staircase a bit tricky for two oldies.Highly recommended – Susan from United Kingdom – 23 April 2024 (9/10)
Glorious old building located in a great part of town. Daria could not have been more helpful. We had a lovely stay & would recommend this apartment. The only note of caution would be that the apartment is on different levels so steps could be an issue for some people.
A wonderful stay in the heart of Bologna – Roberta from Malta – 9 April 2024 (10/10)
