Casa Sant’Agnese Overview
Casa Sant’Agnese sits on this narrow cobblestone street called Via Bocca di Lupo – honestly, the name alone makes you feel like you’re in some medieval tale, which isn’t far from the truth in Bologna. I mean, you’re literally in the Saragozza neighborhood, which locals just call “the university area,” and there’s something wonderfully authentic about stumbling upon this 4-star gem tucked between old residential buildings. The entrance is understated in that Italian way where you’re not sure if you’re walking into someone’s home or a hotel, but once you’re inside, you get it – this place has character that those big chain hotels just can’t fake.
What struck me most was how the staff actually knows the neighborhood. Like, really knows it. They’ll tell you to skip the touristy spots near Piazza Maggiore in the morning and instead walk five minutes to Via del Pratello for breakfast at this little place that doesn’t even have a sign. The rooms themselves are comfortable without being flashy – think restored historical building meets modern amenities, but done thoughtfully. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious (you know how Italian hotels can be), and honestly, the beds are proper firm, which I appreciated after walking Bologna’s endless porticoes all day. You’ll hear some street noise in the morning – it’s a living neighborhood, not a sterile hotel district – but it’s the good kind of noise, like neighbors chatting and the occasional Vespa puttering by.
The location is actually perfect if you want to experience Bologna beyond the obvious tourist circuit. You’re close enough to the university that you’ll see students everywhere, which keeps the area lively and authentic, but far enough from the absolute chaos of the main squares that you can actually get some sleep. There’s this little enoteca literally around the corner where locals go for aperitivo – I stumbled into it by accident and ended up chatting with a professor who’d lived in the neighborhood for thirty years. Walking to the city center takes maybe fifteen minutes through some of Bologna’s most beautiful covered walkways, and you’ll pass actual neighborhood shops, not just souvenir stands. The 8.4 rating makes sense because this isn’t luxury in the marble-and-gold sense, but it’s luxury in the “I feel like I’m actually experiencing Bologna” sense. Plus, if you’re into food (and why else would you be in Bologna?), you’re perfectly positioned to explore the real dining scene without fighting crowds of tour groups every time you want dinner.

Reviews of Casa Sant’Agnese
Great apartment in bologna central – Adelina from Australia – 12 June 2025 (10/10)
Spacious apartment close to the old town. Very helpful and accommodating host. Well supplied kitchen equipment, a washing machine and good bathroom and shower. Would recommend this place.
What could be improved: Nothing. everything was greatVery good – Vanessa from Italy – 9 June 2025 (8/10)
very central easy to pick up the keys. Simple apartment but did the job for me. Kitchen well equipped
What could be improved: good value for money. The shower could be redone but overall good for what I paid. Clean, central, bedroom with clean bathroom and a good living roomExceptional – Bendes from Denmark – 22 May 2025 (10/10)
Location is superb. It was easy to find and i got clear and easy instructions how to access the keys to the flat.
Very good value for the price.Disappointing – Zafer from Turkey – 21 April 2025 (4/10)
The location of the apartment is good. It is close to the city center and you can walk there.
What could be improved: There is a locked key outside the door. It needs to be opened with a password. However, this information was not given to us when we made the reservation. It is not easy to find the apartment. Moreover, there is no any sign. There is no such information even on the doorbell. Even the people living in the apartment did not know. We waited in front of the door for a long time. We tried to reach the owner of the apartment by calling. He finally answered, but we waited in front of the door for a long time. However, before we came to the hotel, they had called and informed us very well about the city tax. (Moreover, the city tax was well above the Italian average. Therefore, the fact that the price is a bit affordable does not make sense.) In conclusion, if I came to this city again, I would not stay here. No need for adventure.Lovely – Vasiliki from Greece – 16 April 2025 (10/10)
We had a lovely stay at the apartment. The host was really kind and helpful with our questions !
Good place, get a double sized matress. – Thetiesthatbind from Greece – 6 June 2024 (8/10)
The location was excellent. It was a very quiet and safe neighbourhood and close to Piazza Malpighi so you could access any bus to go anywhere you want within the city and the airport using the day or night shuffle. The host provided a booklet with information and recommendations which was pretty useful too. The kitchen was fully equipped and a laundry machine was also available.
What could be improved: The bed was awful. We were forced to sleep on the couch which was way more comfortable compared to the bed. The bed for some reason although double sized, it had 2 single matresses put together. Also, I tried to contact the host to ask some extra info on the means of transport for the night shuttle or taxi prices but I didn't get any response from him. He did mention some of these stuff in the welcome booklet but needed extra verification.Good – Mike from Greece – 20 May 2024 (7/10)
The location of it is really good.
What could be improved: The bathroom wasn't very good and had a weird smell the first night.Very good – Marthese from Malta – 20 May 2024 (8/10)
Spacious apartment, central and easily accessible both from the airport and the main attractions of Bologna, the host was quite communicative and overall the apartment had everything we needed for a weekend.
What could be improved: The bathroom could do with some improvements – there is no curtain or glass so when you shower water goes everywhere and no bathroom mat was provided. The extractor fan does not seem to be working properly either and unfortunately the smell inside the bathroom was unbearable at times.Very poor – Diego from Italy – 2 March 2024 (2/10)
The apartment was clean.
What could be improved: The bathroom was not that great and most of all there were wokers downstairs who were working with a lot of noise from 8 am to 5 pm and i was not informed about it.Great value for money, close to the centre and spacious – Alex from Romania – 18 January 2024 (10/10)
Location close to the city centre and main attractions.
