The moment I stepped inside, I actually forgot I was in an apartment building – it feels more like staying in a friend’s incredibly well-curated home right in the middle of Bologna. The location on Via delle Lame is honestly perfect if you want to feel like a local rather than just another tourist. I mean, you’re literally steps from the Mercato delle Erbe (which, by the way, is where actual Bolognese people do their shopping), and it’s maybe a five-minute walk to Piazza Maggiore. But here’s the thing – despite being so central, the street itself is surprisingly quiet at night. I was expecting typical city noise, but the windows are solid and the building seems to buffer most of the hustle.

The apartment itself has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake. The owner clearly knows what travelers actually need – there’s proper lighting for reading (not those dim hotel lamps that make you squint), a kitchen that’s actually functional if you want to grab ingredients from the market downstairs, and honestly, the bed is fantastic. I slept better there than I have in some five-star hotels, which might sound like I’m overselling it, but I’m not. The whole space has these thoughtful touches that make you feel settled rather than just passing through. The bathroom’s compact but cleverly designed, and – this might seem minor – but the shower pressure is excellent, which anyone who’s traveled in older European buildings will appreciate.

What really sets this place apart is how it connects you to the real Bologna. You’ll hear the morning sounds of vendors setting up at the market, catch the aroma of fresh bread from the bakery around the corner, and honestly, you’ll find yourself taking different routes through the medieval streets just because you can. The host clearly lives in the city and knows it well – they left recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots, but actual neighborhood gems. I discovered this tiny osteria about three blocks away that I never would have found otherwise. The apartment sits in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to everything important (the university quarter, the main shopping streets, those incredible porticoes everyone talks about) but tucked away enough that you feel like you’ve found something special. It’s the kind of place where you’ll actually want to come back in the evening rather than just crash – maybe pick up some local wine and cheese and enjoy them on the comfortable sofa while planning the next day’s wandering.

  Easy check in and perfect location. We were early but the lovely host let us leave our bags so we could walk around Bologna. The apartment was not missing anything! The little balcony was perfect for morning coffee. You could cook and eat in with full cooking facilities. Bright and airy apartment in the historical centre close to coffee houses ,bars and supermarket.

  Small but comfortable studio apartment in good location. Perfect for single traveller or couple looking for somewhere central for a few days. Clean and quiet with a small balcony overlooking an inner courtyard. Good communication with Giovanni, the host, who was always very helpful and very responsive.

  We loved this clean studio in the heart of Bologna. Very easy to get to and quiet, and the host Giovanni was extremely friendly and provided useful information on how to access the property. Definitely we would rebook it if we visited Bologna again.

  The location is central. The tourist attractions are in walking distance. Lots of bus stops are close to the apartment, even the airport bus. Very good communication with Giovanni. He is a very caring host. The flat is very well equipped and comfortable.
