You know what really struck me about Casa di Vanessa? It’s tucked away on Via dello Spalto in this quiet residential pocket of Savena that most tourists never stumble across – and honestly, that’s exactly why I loved it. The moment you walk through those doors, there’s this immediate sense that you’ve found something special, not just another cookie-cutter hotel. The building itself has this understated Italian elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but just… works.

The staff here actually seem to care about what they’re doing, which sounds obvious but you’d be surprised how rare that is these days. During check-in, the woman at the front desk (I think her name was Lucia?) took the time to mark up a proper map for me – not just the touristy spots, but where to get the best tortellini in brodo without fighting crowds, and which bus routes would save me from walking uphill with shopping bags. Speaking of location, you’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the centro storico, but that distance is actually a blessing. You get to experience Bologna like someone who lives here, not just passes through. The neighborhood has this lovely morning rhythm – locals heading to work, kids walking to school, the scent of fresh bread from the bakery down the street.

The rooms themselves are thoughtfully designed without being fussy about it. I mean, the bed was genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-comfortable), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that actually works properly. What I really appreciated were the little touches – decent lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and windows that actually open to let in fresh air. You can hear a bit of street life during the day, but it’s the good kind of urban soundtrack, not traffic noise. Evenings are surprisingly peaceful. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed there; it’s not trying to be a luxury palace, but everything they do, they do well. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re experiencing a place rather than just visiting it, Casa di Vanessa gets that balance exactly right.

  The Apartment had all what we needed for our family of 4 to have a fantastic stay in Bologna. The owner was very receptive to our requests and flexible to allow an a bit-earlier Check-in. She also left some gifts for us (kids and adults) to enjoy.
  The Apartment is close to buses and train station, so, it is is ok connected to the old town and Bologna centrale. We will definitely come back in our next trip to Bologna.

  Cozy, clean apartments. The apartment has everything you need to cook your own food. There is also tea. special thanks for the gift – sweets for tea. I recommend buying groceries at ALDI. The prices are significantly different from the large CONAD store.
  We mostly walked. But when we used the bus, we paid on the bus with a regular bank card. The money is debited from it within 24-48 hours. I was worried. did we really pay, the money for the ride wasn't even blocked on my card.

  Vanessa was incredibly helpful, polite, and professional, making our stay exceptional. The apartment was fully equipped with everything we needed and more, including a well-stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable, and both the towels and linens were clean, as well as the entire apartment. It was also easy to access by car, and we had no big trouble finding parking (public parking in the area is free; on two out of the three nights, we were able to find a spot on the same street. However, one night, we had to park a 3-4 minute walk away from the apartment which wasn't a big deal for us). We would definitely recommend this place!

  Nice apartment, air conditioning in both rooms (we were in July during the heat "red code" so we needed both).
  The neighborhood looks safe and quiet.
  You can park on the street for free: you will find a place easier before 17:00 (when the cars return home).
  There is a small "supermarket" 5 min walk away, a big one (Conad) 10 min walk away.
  The bus stop to the center of the town is 5 min walk away, about 10-15 min by bus to center.
