You know what struck me first about Alfea Suite? It’s actually tucked away on this quiet stretch of Via Morgagni – and I mean properly quiet, not that fake “tranquil oasis” nonsense you usually get in city centers. Bologna’s university district has this lived-in energy that’s way more authentic than the tourist-heavy areas, and honestly, being right here puts you in the middle of actual Italian life. Students grab coffee at the little bar downstairs most mornings, and there’s something genuinely charming about hearing snippets of conversation in rapid-fire Italian while you’re figuring out your day.

The suites themselves are – well, they’re what you’d hope for but rarely get. Everything feels intentional rather than just thrown together by some corporate design team. I’m talking about proper space to actually unpack (revolutionary concept, I know), and the kitchenette isn’t just for show – it’s got everything you need if you want to grab fresh ingredients from Mercato delle Erbe, which is maybe a ten-minute walk away. The bathroom situation is solid too, with decent water pressure and those little touches that make you think someone actually cares about your experience. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night – you’re close enough to the action but far enough from the late-night university crowd that stumbles around the more central streets.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: you’re positioned perfectly for both the main sights and the stuff locals actually do. Sant’Orsola hospital is literally around the corner, which sounds weird to mention but it’s actually a landmark that taxi drivers know instantly. More importantly, you can walk to Piazza Maggiore in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also near some of the best aperitivo spots that aren’t completely overrun with tourists. The whole Morgagni area has this residential feel where you’ll see families doing their evening passeggiata and elderly men playing cards at sidewalk tables. Plus – and this matters if you’re driving – parking isn’t the nightmare it is closer to the centro storico. The staff seem to get this balance too; they’re helpful without being overly formal, and they actually know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward places you wouldn’t find otherwise. With a 9.6 rating, I went in expecting it to be good, but it’s that rare place that feels both polished and genuinely welcoming rather than just efficient.

  Great location, within a few minutes from the train station and the city center. The area is quiet, safe, and with nice options to enjoy a spritz or dinner. The apartment is cozy, has nice amenities, and has a very lovely balcony to spend the evenings. Micaela is very helpful and at disposal should the guests need anything.

  Very comfortable, modern, quiet apartment. Location is great. Very close to bars and restaurants around Mercato delle Erbe. Short walk to both the Old Town and the train station. Super easy access using mobile app. USB charging points were a bonus.

  The apartment is in a great location. Most of the landmarks are within a 15 minute walk. Everything inside is of the highest quality and cleanliness and access to the building is very easy. Micaela was great with communications as well so no complaints! Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip.

  Micaela is a wonderful Host!!!! She was very caring and concerned that all would go well for me. If I lived there, I would love to get to know her better. The property is pristine and very modern -so I needed some initial help with switched that Micaela gladly provided. I loved having a kitchen.
  Food in Bologna is incredible-so it was a pleasure shopping the markets and cooking as a (very) brief break from the wonderful restaurants! Yum!
