You know what struck me first about Casa Decó? The name actually makes sense once you step inside – there’s this gorgeous Art Deco influence throughout that feels intentional without being heavy-handed. It’s tucked right on Via Irnerio, which honestly is one of those streets that locals use but tourists often miss. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the university district, so there’s always this nice energy around, but it never gets rowdy since most of the student bars are actually closer to Via Zamboni.

The building itself has that classic Bologna elegance – you walk through these beautiful wooden doors into a lobby that feels more like someone’s sophisticated living room than a hotel reception. I mean, the 9.4 rating isn’t just inflated review nonsense; they’ve genuinely thought about the details here. The rooms have these amazing high ceilings (typical for this part of the city), and the design manages to blend modern comfort with period features without feeling like they’re trying too hard. Actually, what I loved most was how quiet it stays at night – Via Irnerio doesn’t get the foot traffic that some of the more central streets do, but you’re still close enough to everything that matters. The staff seems to actually know Bologna well, not just the obvious tourist spots. When I asked about where to grab aperitivo, they sent me to this little place on Via del Pratello that I never would have found otherwise.

Here’s the thing about the location that really works – you’re about fifteen minutes on foot to Piazza Maggiore, but you’re also close to some of the neighborhoods where actual Bolognesi hang out. The morning walk to get coffee feels authentically local, especially if you head toward Via San Vitale where there are these family-run bars that have been around forever. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area (it’s Bologna, after all), but the hotel staff actually helps figure it out rather than just shrugging. The breakfast setup is solid too – not trying to be fancy, just good local pastries and proper coffee. I stayed during late spring when the weather was perfect, and honestly, the whole experience felt like discovering a place that knows exactly what it is. It’s not trying to be the flashiest spot in town, but if you want to stay somewhere that feels connected to the real Bologna while still having all the comfort you’d expect from a well-run four-star place, Casa Decó gets it right.

  Exceptional apartment with tasteful decor and plenty of space. Lisa was an incredible host. The location is quiet but close to everything, including a huge playground. Don't hesitate to book!

  Heerlijk appartement. Groot en van alle gemakken voorzien. Was in Bologna erg warm maar gelukkig in beide slaapkamers airconditioning. Mooie locatie. Zeer centraal maar s’avonds en s’nachts vrijwel geen geluid. Zeer vriendelijke gastvrouw. Kortom: zeer aan te raden.

  Ci siamo trovati molto bene a casa Decò, un bellissimo appartamento con arredamento in stile arte decò, spazioso luminoso e con vista sui tetti di Bologna. Non lontano dalla stazione centrale e a pochi passi da piazza Maggiore. Vicino a ristoranti, bar, osterie tipiche. Un punto a favore è dato dalla simpatia e disponibilità di Lisa, la proprietaria, pronta a soddisfare ogni nostra richiesta. Che dire ancora, se passate da Bologna, soggiornate a Casa Decò, lo consiglio spassionatamente.

  This is an excellent place to stay. It's much larger than it looks and is very beautifully laid out. It's really quite and peaceful (the windows seemed soundproofed) even though you're off a bigger street. There was tea + coffee. We slept well and felt immediately at home. Lisa, our host was extremely kind. She communicated quickly and made the home a pleasant place to be.

  Casa Decó felt like home – a very stylish, spacious and comfortable one. The apartment was spotless, beautifully furnished and decorated. The kitchen had all appliances we needed, including tea and coffee. The central location allowed us to explore the city center on foot leaving our car in an underground parking nearby which was appreciated. We highly recommend it !

  The city of Bologna came about by chance in our plans and I chose the apartment by location, but also by the photos. the decoration, the floors, the aesthetics, the size. Everything seemed very beautiful and well cared for, but the experience was much better than we expected. The host is a lively and friendly woman with a wonderful insight into the accommodation and comfort of guests.
  Accessible and fast in the resolution of demands (which were few and operational). The apartment is really beautiful! The location, perfect. Close to the historic centre, bars and restaurants, markets and pharmacies.
  And the light and the view! Astonishing! You'll feel inside of a post card, all the city colors illuminating the well equiped kitchen and beautifully designed dinner room. And you can play the piano as well. Very recommended, I hope to go back soon and enjoy more time in this beautiful space in Bologna
  
  What could be improved: I think the host need to review the electric extensions and some electric plugs regard on security. And take a look in the washing machine: function is perfect, but it "walks" in some washing cicles.

  Amazing property, with fantastic views and amazing hosts! Lisa showed us everything in the neighborhood, and made us feel so welcome during our first trip to Bologna. The apartment is super clean, spacious and in the best location. Will stay again!
