Casa Bolognese – in the heart of the city! Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Casa Bolognese – in the heart of the city! on Via Marconi, you immediately get that feeling you’re in the right spot. I mean, this four-star property sits exactly where you want to be in Bologna — close enough to everything that matters, but on a street that doesn’t feel completely overrun with tourists. The building itself has that classic Italian charm without being too fancy, and honestly, the entrance gives you a good sense of what’s waiting inside.

Location Magic

Here’s what I love about this place — you’re literally in the centro storico, which means those famous porticoes are basically your hallway to the rest of the city. The Piazza Maggiore is maybe a five-minute walk, and you know what? You’ll actually want to make that walk because the streets between here and there are filled with little discoveries. Couples seem to absolutely adore this spot (they rate the location a perfect 10), and I get why — there’s something romantic about being able to wander back to your hotel through those medieval streets after dinner.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d hope for in a well-run Italian hotel — clean lines, comfortable bed, and those little touches that show someone actually cares about the details. The windows open properly (which isn’t always a given), and if you’re lucky enough to get one facing the street, you’ll hear just enough of Bologna’s daily rhythm without it being overwhelming. The bathroom was modern and functional, though not huge — but honestly, when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city, that’s perfectly fine.

Neighborhood Vibes

What really makes this location special is how it puts you right in the middle of authentic Bologna life. There’s a little café around the corner where locals actually go for their morning coffee, and the evening passeggiata happens right outside your door. You’re close enough to the university area that there’s always some energy in the streets, but far enough from the main tourist drags that you feel like you’re experiencing the real city. The food scene around here is incredible too — I found some of my best meals just wandering the nearby streets.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.5 rating really reflects what this place does well — it’s not trying to be the fanciest hotel in town, but it nails the fundamentals while giving you that perfect Bologna location. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you make the most of your stay, and they know the neighborhood well enough to point you toward experiences you might miss otherwise. For the price point and the location, it’s honestly hard to beat — especially if you’re the type of traveler who values being in the heart of things over having a massive hotel spa or elaborate amenities.

Bologna’s hotels wrap guests in Renaissance art, rooftop lounges, and concierge-led Mortadella market tours.

The location was superb right in the heart of the city. All amenities were great, hygienic and well maintained.

What could be improved: Just a suggestion to add black out curtains in the living room with the sofa cum bed as it gets too bright in the morning

  • Great apartment for visiting Bologna (4 persons) – Christian from Denmark – 17 August 2023 (10/10)

Fantastic flat in Bologna. Walking distance to everything. The communication with the host was excellent and the mobile app used to get in and retrieve the keys worked seamlessly. The kitchen is well equiped and we appreciated the washing machine as well. Excellent aircon could cool the flat quickly even during July (close to 40C) and just outside the main door is a fantastic ice cream store for further cooling. Lots of parking possibilities nearby (no free ones)

What could be improved: No negative comments – we were very happy with the stay!

The living room and bedroom each has a big TV for us to watch Netflix 😉 Our host Christian is friendly and helpful too. He goes extra mile to ensure our pleasant stay in Bologna.
