I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to 18 Via Amatore Sciesa – honestly, Borgo Panigale isn’t exactly the neighborhood that screams “charming Bologna experience” to most tourists. But here’s the thing about Guardei House: it’s actually perfect if you want to live like a local instead of being stuck in some cookie-cutter hotel downtown. The whole place has this lived-in authenticity that you just can’t fake, and I mean that in the best way possible.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious (Italian standards, but still) and you can tell someone actually put thought into making it functional. The kitchen isn’t just for show – I actually cooked a proper meal there, which is more than I can say for most places I’ve stayed. What really got me was how quiet it is, especially at night. You’re far enough from the centro storico chaos but close enough that you can hop on the bus and be at Piazza Maggiore in like fifteen minutes. The neighborhood has this authentic working-class vibe – there’s a fantastic little alimentari around the corner where the owner started recognizing me after day two, and honestly, that’s when you know you’ve found something special.

I’ll be real with you – this isn’t for everyone. If you need to be walking distance from San Petronio or want that classic Bologna postcard view from your window, look elsewhere. But if you’re the type who appreciates having actual counter space, reliable wifi (surprisingly good, actually), and neighbors who nod hello instead of tour groups stumbling past at midnight, then this place just works. The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just genuinely comfortable and well-maintained. Plus, and this might sound weird, but the shower pressure is incredible. After days of walking around Bologna’s cobblestones, trust me, you’ll appreciate that detail more than any fancy lobby.

  El apartamento está muy buen, es muy amplio, tiene una buena vista, las instalaciones están aceptables, cuenta con lo descrito, cerca hay un lidl lo cual es cómodo para comprar cosas y esta la estacion de tren de cercanías que por 1.50 te lleva a la estación centrale
  
  What could be improved: No me gustó que en ningún lado te dicen que tienes que pagar unas taxes municipales que cobra directamente el dueño, por transferencia bancaria o efectivo, pero te lo dice antes de hacer el check in, el cual me parece malo, porque no se especifica en ningún lado y en mi caso me cobraron 23.20 euros, que no los tenia contemplados en el precio final.

  What could be improved: – there was not working heating and as the apartment is large it was very cold inside, 16-17 degrees, we contacted owner about the problem but because we were for one night we just used blankets which at least were present in the apartment so it was ok
