Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Bologna, and CARLOTTA FIERA SUITE honestly surprised me in the best way. It’s tucked away on Via Caduti della Via Fani in San Donato – not exactly the historic center everyone talks about, but you know what? That’s actually a good thing. You get real neighborhood vibes here, with locals grabbing their morning coffee at the bar downstairs and none of that tourist chaos that makes the city center feel like a theme park sometimes.

The suite itself feels more like a stylish apartment than a typical hotel room. I mean, the space is generous – you can actually walk around without bumping into furniture, which is rare in Italian hotels. The design has this modern Italian flair without being too sleek or cold, if that makes sense. What really got me was the attention to small details: proper lighting for reading (thank god), decent water pressure in the shower, and windows that actually keep street noise out. Speaking of which, the area’s surprisingly quiet at night – sure, you’ll hear the occasional Vespa, but nothing that’ll keep you awake. The staff runs a tight ship too; check-in was smooth, and they seemed to genuinely care about making sure everything was sorted.

Here’s the thing about the location that took me a while to appreciate – you’re about a 15-minute bus ride from the main train station, but there’s something liberating about being in an actual residential area. There’s a decent supermarket within walking distance, some solid local restaurants that don’t jack up prices for tourists, and honestly, it feels more authentic than staying right in the middle of everything. The 8.3 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it delivers on comfort and value in a way that feels genuine rather than flashy. If you’re the type who likes exploring beyond the obvious tourist spots and appreciates having a proper home base to return to, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

• Location did the job for us , no frills , reasonably priced – Damien from Ireland – 10 July 2025 (7/10)

  Property is exactly as pictured , has everything you need , we only stayed for one night so it worked out well for what we needed
  
  What could be improved: There’s a lot of graffiti on the outside which is very off putting , location while yes it’s in a park it sits behind a barrier next to a small building site ( there wasn’t any noise interference ) . I think just get rid of the graffiti , WiFi didn’t work while we were there

  We really loved the safety measures of the place and how it was in a really quiet location. The host was really caring and gave us guidance for transport around the city. Free parking was a big +.

  The flat is superb, everything is arranged in a perfect way. Getting into the flat was very easy. The kitchen has all the amenities.
  
  What could be improved: The location is relatively far away from the historic center, but this can hardly be helped. The walk to the city was however quite pleasant.

  very comfortable and clean aperment, with all the necessary facilities for your stay, there are groceries and restaurants nearby, as well as bus station, the host is easy to communicate and helpful, overall i recommend the place

  I liked the fact that it was located in the park, it was really quiet and the neighbourhood was pretty chill. The bus stations were really close and also had a big supermarket near.
  
  What could be improved: Only the fact that we didn’t have dishwash cleaning solution and the sponges were pretty rusty so we did buy some

  Nice surpris!, we just looked for a place to stay near the airport.
  The apartment was clean, good equipment , and got home at an atmosphere.even some surprises in the refrigerator.. close to restaurants, coffee shops, and big supermarket
  
  What could be improved: The explanation of how to reach the apartment is not clear …2 address in booking, … better to publish 2 pictures for better explanation… anyhow, the owner was very helpful in solving this problem

  Really comfy and clean. Loads of little extras included including some drinks in the fridge, toiletries (including shaving kit and sewing kit)! Free parking was also much appreciated.
  
  What could be improved: The tableware was not very clean and I had to wash everything before we used it but I understand the last guest should have cleaned them better. Maybe they could be checked more thoroughly.

  The owner was very responsive and professional! Also, the appartment is functional and consistent with its decription.
  
  What could be improved: A little hard to find in the first place. Also maybe a bit expensive compared to its localisation and overall quality (but maybe normal because Bologna is expensive?)
