Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Bologna apartments over the years, and this one on Via Pietralata actually gets it right. The address says “secondo piano” which means second floor – and honestly, that’s perfect because you’re high enough to avoid street noise but not so high that hauling luggage becomes a workout. The Saragozza neighborhood is one of those areas that feels properly Bolognese, you know? Not touristy, but not so residential that you can’t find a decent cappuccino at 7 AM.

What really struck me about this place is how they’ve managed to make it feel like an actual home rather than just another rental. The apartment sits in this classic Bologna building – the kind with those gorgeous porticoes that the city’s famous for literally a few blocks away. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re right in the thick of where people actually live. There’s this little alimentari downstairs where the owner will remember your face by day three, and the morning market on Via Saragozza happens basically outside your door twice a week. The Wi-Fi actually works (I mean, really works, not just technically connects), and the kitchen has everything you need if you want to cook – which you should, because the market has incredible produce.

The 8.9 rating makes sense once you’re there. It’s not perfect – the shower pressure could be better, and parking isn’t included, though there’s usually street parking if you’re patient. But honestly, most people don’t realize how much Bologna opens up when you’re staying in a real neighborhood instead of near the train station. You’ll hear church bells instead of traffic, and the evening passeggiata happens right on your street. The apartment itself is clean, well-maintained, and has that lived-in comfort that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the building stays cool in summer thanks to those thick old walls – air conditioning is nice, but natural temperature control is better.

  The apartment was perfect for a short family stay, with all the basics for a comfortable stay, clean and well located (a 15 mins walk to the Piazza Maggiore) and close to many restaurants and cafes. Communicating with the host was also very easy! Would definitely recommend.
  
  What could be improved: On weekend nights there may be some noises coming from the street, but they can be avoided by closing the windows (there is AC to cool the room's temperatures).

  What could be improved: The apartment wasn’t ready when we checked in but we were able to leave our bags there which was helpful while we went out exploring. The shower didn’t drain properly, but this could easily be sorted

  The apartment is a 10-minute walk from the main square and is near the arcade leading to Our Lady of St. Luke. The owners are friendly and always helpful. There is a private parking lot- Autorimessa San Felice – a 3-minute walk away.

  the apartment was clean and tidy. equipped with toothbrushes, enough towels. the kitchen had a coffee maker with coffe, a refrigerator, and a dishwasher. As attention, we had prepared champagne…The landlady allowed us to leave later.
