Piazza Maggiore Luxury Apartment Overview

Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Bologna, but this apartment on Via d’Azeglio just hits different. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “okay, someone actually cared about this”? That’s exactly what happened here. The building itself has this gorgeous old-world charm – we’re talking about a street that’s literally steps from Piazza Maggiore, but somehow it feels tucked away from all the tourist chaos.

The apartment is honestly stunning, and I mean that in the most non-promotional way possible. Everything feels intentional, from the marble countertops to the way the light hits the living room in the afternoon. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case), and there’s this little balcony that overlooks the street where you can have your morning coffee and watch Bologna wake up. What really got me though was the attention to detail – they’ve got proper wine glasses, decent kitchen knives, and even a Nespresso machine that works. It’s those small things that make you feel like you’re living there, not just passing through.

The location is absolutely killer, and here’s why: you’re on Via d’Azeglio, which means you can stumble to Piazza Maggiore in about two minutes when you want to people-watch, but you’re far enough away that you won’t hear drunk tourists at 2 AM. The university area is right there too, so you’ve got all these little bars and osterie that locals actually go to – places like Osteria del Sole where you can bring your own food and just buy wine. The morning market at Via Ugo Bassi is maybe a five-minute walk, perfect for grabbing fresh bread and prosciutto. And honestly, forget about driving – everything you need is walkable, plus the train station is close enough that you can easily day-trip to Florence or Venice.

The service has been consistently excellent, which is rare for short-term rentals. Check-in was smooth, they actually answered when I had questions about the heating (it gets properly cold in Bologna winters), and they left some local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots. The WiFi is solid, the shower has good pressure, and the whole place stays surprisingly quiet considering you’re basically in the city center. My only tiny complaint? The stairs up to the apartment are a bit steep, but that’s pretty standard for these old buildings – just pack light or be prepared for a mini workout with your luggage.

I’ve recommended this place to probably six friends now, and every single one has texted me afterwards saying they loved it. It’s got that perfect combination of luxury and authenticity that’s hard to find in Bologna, especially at this price point. You’re paying for the location and the quality, sure, but you’re also getting to live like a local in one of Italy’s most underrated food cities. Trust me, book it.

  • EXCELLENT APPARTMENT IN THE HEART OF BOLOGNA – Vedat from Turkey – 1 July 2025 (10/10)

everything was amazing. the location is extremely good. host was super kind and he helped us anytime for everything. the apartment itself really so good so luxury so comfortable. there were 2 rooms very good size, 1 ensuite bathroom and 1 common bathroom. the living room and kitchen is really big and confortable. Honestly it was one of our best stay experience.

What could be improved: the only issue that the AC didnt work or we didnt find how to turn it on. As a person who is not a fan of AC it wasnt a big problem for me.

  • Excellent location, nice spacious apartment. – Jessica from Germany – 27 June 2025 (9/10)

The location was fantastic and the apartment itself was very secure. It was very spacious and clean with 2 very nicely sized bedrooms.

What could be improved: Whilst there was air conditioning in every room, it didn’t work as well as we’d like. The apartment was still relatively cool though.

  • Fantastic location and very elegant comfortable apartment in the centre of all the action in Bologna – Catharine from Australia – 12 June 2025 (10/10)

This apartment was absolutely beautiful. We were travelling with another couple and the rooms were large and the lounge and kitchen also large and useful. Best thing was the location however. This apartment was literally 2 minutes walking from the Neptune statue in the main piazza. So you are surrounded by lots of historical sites, cafes and bars. I highly recommend this apartment.
