Look, I’ll be straight with you – when I first walked into Blue Suite by Studio Vita, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside. Via Guido Zucchini isn’t exactly Bologna’s most glamorous street, but honestly, that’s part of what makes this place work. You’re tucked away in a proper residential neighborhood where actual Bolognese people live, which means you get those amazing morning sounds of espresso machines and Vespa engines instead of tour groups at 7 AM.

The suite itself is where Studio Vita really shows what they’re about. It’s got this clean, almost minimalist thing going on – not sterile, just… thoughtful, you know? The blue accents aren’t overdone (thank god), and there’s actually enough space to unpack without playing furniture Tetris. What really got me was the bathroom – proper water pressure and those little touches like decent lighting that make you realize how many hotels completely phone it in. The bed situation is solid too, though I mean, after walking around Bologna all day hitting up Quadrilatero market and climbing the Asinelli tower, you could probably sleep on cobblestones.

Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites won’t tell you – you’re about a 15-minute walk from the main action around Piazza Maggiore, but that’s actually perfect. Close enough that you can stumble back after too much Sangiovese at dinner, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos or those awful tour groups that descend on the city center. There’s a little alimentari right around the corner where this older guy makes the best panettone I’ve had outside of Milan, and if you head toward Via dell’Indipendenza, you’ll hit some genuinely good osterie that tourists never find. The area gets pretty quiet after 10 PM, which is either perfect or boring depending on what you’re after.

Parking is… well, it’s Bologna, so good luck with that. But the train station is walkable if you don’t mind dragging luggage over those medieval stones, and honestly, once you’re settled in, everything you actually want to see is either walkable or a quick bus ride away. The staff seems to genuinely know the city – not just the obvious stuff, but like where to get the best tortellini en brodo at 2 PM on a Tuesday. That 9.5 rating makes sense when you stay here; it’s not flashy or trying too hard, just a really well-executed place that understands what travelers actually need.

  Both bedrooms had comfortable beds, the heating worked well (we stayed in winter) and having two bathrooms was nice for the family.

  Very easy communication with host and online checkin was very straight forward. Once the apartment was available I was sent an app link that opened the main door and a code for the drop box with the apartment key. There is a lift as well as stairs. Inside, the apartment has been kitted out to a very high standard and everything you could need was there including a dishwasher, washing machine,cooker/microwave and full cooking utensils, I think the only thing we could not find was an ice tray. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large and exceptionally clean. Each room had individual air conditioning, plenty of fancy light switches. There is a convenience store very close by and it’s about a 10/15 min walk to the train station, 5 mins to the bus station and 10 mins to the old town centre. Over all a loverly, quiet base for visiting Bologna and local region.
  
  What could be improved: Only thing was a couple more comfy chairs in the living area would have been nice if travelling with 3 or 4 people.
