The area feels more like where actual Bolognese people live and work, which gave me a better sense of the real city. There are some solid local spots for dinner within walking distance, and honestly, the prices are way more reasonable than what you’ll find near the main attractions.

The Room Experience

My room was larger than I expected — Italian hotels can be pretty cramped, but this place gets the space thing right. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed backache, and the bathroom actually had decent water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’re traveling). What really stood out was how quiet everything was. The windows do a good job blocking street noise, and the walls seem thick enough that I wasn’t hearing my neighbors’ conversations or TV shows all night.

Getting Around

Look, I’ll be straight with you — this isn’t a walk-everywhere kind of location, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There’s decent public transport nearby, and if you’re driving, parking is way less stressful here than trying to navigate Bologna’s historic center with a rental car. I actually preferred having a bit of distance from the main tourist areas because it meant I could explore the city more intentionally rather than just stumbling from one crowded piazza to another. Plus, when you do venture into the center, you appreciate it more because you’re not constantly surrounded by other travelers.

The staff here seems to actually care about doing their job well, which sounds basic but isn’t always guaranteed. They’re helpful without being overly chatty, and they know the area well enough to give you solid recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps. The whole place feels well-maintained — not brand new, but everything works properly and looks clean. For the price point, you’re getting good value, especially considering Bologna’s hotel scene can be pretty hit-or-miss. It’s the kind of place where you can settle in for a few days and actually feel comfortable rather than just counting down until checkout.

  Everything was perfect! Beautiful new apartment with elevator access. Huge and modern walk-in shower, clean toilet. Comfy bed with TV, AC helped bearing the heat. Small fridge to keep your drinks cool. The Host Patrizia was very friendly and answered all our questions and gave recommendations about where to eat etc.

  It was a fantastic stay and the owner texted me on numerous occasions to make sure all good. It was a bit out of the centre but we really enjoyed the walk and seen things we wouldn't if in the centre. The value was very good. Felt really safe as it was me and my daughter. Would highly recommend it. Don't be put off by surroundings as it is a very safe area.
