The apartments themselves are well, they’re proper apartments – not those cramped hotel rooms with a tiny kitchenette shoved in the corner. I mean, you’ve got actual counter space to spread out your groceries from Mercato delle Erbe (which is maybe a 15-minute walk through some lovely old streets). The 4-star rating feels about right; everything works, it’s clean, and the beds are comfortable, though don’t expect luxury finishes. The wifi was solid when I was there last spring – important if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to video call home without freezing every thirty seconds. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming the exact process beforehand since it’s not a traditional hotel setup with a 24-hour front desk.

Location-wise, this is where it gets interesting. Saragozza isn’t the historic center – you’ll need about 20 minutes on foot to reach Piazza Maggiore – but that’s honestly refreshing after dealing with the crowds around the main sights. Plus, you’re close to some gems that most tourists miss entirely. There’s this fantastic little osteria called Osteria del Sole just a few blocks away where you can bring your own food and they provide the wine and atmosphere (very Bologna, very authentic). The area gets pretty quiet at night, which some people love and others might find a bit too sleepy – depends what you’re after. Parking can be tricky like everywhere in Bologna, but there are some residential spots nearby if you’re driving, though honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The whole experience feels less like staying in a hotel and more like borrowing a friend’s place in Bologna – which, for the price point and that solid 8.4 rating, is exactly what makes it worth considering if you want to experience the city like an actual resident rather than just another tourist rushing between monuments.

  A good location to wonder around. There were laundry machines, dishwasher, a kitchen with dinning dishes and cookware – very useful if you’re staying for 3-4 days. Our issue was with the air conditioner – it was 33°C and AC keeps on and off, and when it’s on, it just provide some air not cool air. We asked the staff but they couldn’t help it either. It’s just an old AC which needs to be cleaned.

  The location is fantastic not far from the centre of town! Very clean and tidy on arrival too.

  Great location on a lively street with lots of restaurants and shops at your doorstep. The apartment is quiet and comfortable, and the outdoor space is lovely for a morning coffee. Ideal location from which to explore beautiful Bologna!

  Bologna staff wonderful! Myriam terrific but make sure you get the apt you booked! Wonderful area.. clean.. cool.. accommodating!
  
  What could be improved: Tiny coffee mokka! The booking was screed up.. needed a sofa bed for a guest.. booked it and wasn’t there. But once I prove that booked the other apt they did change me and were quite apologetic about the error. I think there is confusion because of the Milan office.. but Myriam is available and able to communicate clearly! Just be sure you get what you booked!

  What could be improved: Communication between Wonderful Italy (via Booking.com) and the local operators could have been much improved. I answered questions on Booking.com such as time of arrival, plus sent a couple of questions. None were responded to. Then I received a whatsapp message from the local operators asking the same thing. I tried calling without success (it turned out the number was only whatsapp)_.

  Location is fabulous. On a busy street only minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore and lovely restaurants. Bus stop directly outside the apartment to get to the station if you don't want to walk. The apartment has everything you need.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment hadn't been cleaned when we arrived, although this was quickly sorted and was cleaned within the hour.
