You know what? When I first saw “BidiBo apartment” I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect – sounds a bit quirky, right? But this place on Via Cesare Boldrini turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you actually know Bologna, not just visiting it. The location is pretty much perfect if you’re planning to explore the city properly. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Bologna Centrale station, which I mean, if you’re lugging suitcases or catching early trains, that’s huge. But here’s the thing – it doesn’t feel touristy or sterile like some places near train stations can.

The apartment itself has this comfortable, lived-in quality that immediately puts you at ease. It’s got that Italian attention to detail without being fussy about it – good linens, solid furniture, a kitchen that actually works if you want to grab groceries from the Conad down the street (there’s one maybe two blocks away). The windows face onto Via Boldrini, and honestly, it’s pretty quiet considering how central you are. I was expecting more street noise, but Bologna’s centro storico has this nice rhythm where things wind down in the evenings. The 4-star rating feels right – it’s not luxury, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully put together.

What really sold me on this place was how it connects you to actual Bologna life. You’re right in the thick of things but on a residential street where you’ll see locals heading to work, picking up bread, walking their dogs. There’s a fantastic little bar-pasticceria about a block away where you can grab proper Italian breakfast (forget the hotel buffet croissants – these are the real deal). The Quadrilatero market area is maybe an eight-minute walk, and you can easily stroll to Piazza Maggiore or the university district. I actually found myself using the apartment as a base to duck back for afternoon rest – something you don’t always feel comfortable doing in hotels. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not flashy, but it delivers on everything that matters for actually experiencing Bologna rather than just passing through it.

  The apartment is ideally located, just a minute's walk from the train station and around 15 minutes from the city center. It's cozy and charming with red accents throughout, and it was perfect for two people. The space was clean, and everything we needed was provided—from towels and an iron to a washing machine, with two drying racks available on the balcony. It truly felt like a home away from home. The owner was also very responsive. There is also a lovely cafe just outside of the building. Highly recommend!

  What could be improved: Very difficult to hang clothes as bar in wardrobe is so high – the apartment needs a small foot step to reach. Also we would have liked a small pairing knife to cut fruit – had to use the large carving knife.
  Also some information in the welcome pack about what bus routes to use in the area would be helpful.

  The beds were very comfortable, the whole apartment was very clean and well equipped, the location is very convenient as it's two minutes from the train station and 15 minutes walk from the city center (and also close to bus stops, supermarket etc). The host was very responsive.
  
  What could be improved: There isn't much space in the kitchen/living room area if one wants to hang out in more than 2 people. But for the purpose of sleeping/eating and then getting out of the house, it's more than fine.

  It was very close to central station and very clean. There was a coffee machine. Personnel was kind and checking and chekout processes were so easy. If I come to Bologna again I will book here.
  
  What could be improved: First day there was a warm water problem for shower but the personnel was very helpful and solved another day. Lack of dishwasher, a little bit smaller, it is for families of three.
