You know what caught me off guard about BellaBo Apartment? I was expecting just another generic Bologna rental, but this place actually has character. It’s tucked away on Via Cesare Boldrini – and I mean really tucked away, like you’ll walk past it twice before spotting the entrance. The building itself has that weathered Italian charm where you’re climbing up to the first floor thinking “please don’t let this be sketchy,” but then you open the door and it’s surprisingly well-appointed inside.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting it. You’re about a seven-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, which sounds far but isn’t – especially since you’ll discover this little route through the porticos that locals use. There’s a morning market nearby where you can grab actual good coffee (not the tourist trap stuff), and the whole neighborhood has this residential vibe where you’ll hear Italian families going about their day. I stayed here in late spring, and honestly, the sounds of the street life below were part of the charm – though light sleepers might want to pack earplugs for weekend nights.

What really impressed me was how the owners managed to balance that authentic Bologna apartment feeling with modern conveniences. The kitchen is actually functional – I mean, you can cook real meals here, not just heat up leftovers. The bathroom has decent water pressure, which, let’s be honest, isn’t guaranteed in historic Italian buildings. The WiFi works properly, and there’s air conditioning that doesn’t sound like a helicopter landing. Small things, but they matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The only minor gripe I had was the street-facing windows – beautiful natural light during the day, but Bologna gets lively at night, especially on weekends when university students are out. Still, that’s kind of part of the experience, right? You’re in the heart of a living, breathing Italian city, not some sanitized hotel bubble. For the price point and that 8.3 rating, BellaBo delivers exactly what it promises – a genuine Bologna experience with enough comfort to keep you happy.

  It's very close to the train station which is why I chose this property. It's clean, cosy and looks just like the photos. The studio is on the first floor (there's an elevator). Self check-in and check-out were easy, I had no trouble with entering or exiting. The owner answers quickly and kindly.
  
  What could be improved: Noisy neighbors until 2 a.m. Just rumbling around their apartment and speaking loadly and it could all be heard clearly. It seems I wasn't the only one having such problems, so something should be done because it spoils the guests' stays.
  One of the doors of the shower cabin might have been broken by another guest, so there's a curtain instead which is not very practical.
  Tourist tax is not included in the price on Booking.

  The guest house is situated in a very convenient area. It's close to the Bologna central station. The room is very clean and tidy, and everything you need is prepared.
  
  What could be improved: Well, it's just a small thing – the shower's water drainage was bad. It might be the facility's issue, not the owner's.

  Excellent apartment with everything I needed. Washing machine, hairdryer, kitchen, large space, room darkening shade, very cute apartment. The owner was very helpful and available after arrival.
  
  What could be improved: The noise from the neighboring apartments was constant and clear but a white noise machine blocked it out well for sleeping. The key to the front gate was trickey but works if you know to jiggle it around a little then turn left.

  Excellent couldn't ask for more, owner really great, and helped us out when flight was cancelled on way out. Handy for station, 40mins to Florence on train. 15 min walk to centre of Bologna , lots of bars, cafés and shops on way
