The Beauty Case apartment sits tucked away on one of Bologna’s quieter side streets, just a few blocks from the main university area, but far enough removed that you’re not dealing with the late-night student chaos that can plague other central spots.

The whole “intimate” thing in the name isn’t just marketing speak – this really does feel more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place than a typical hotel setup. The apartment has this lived-in elegance that’s hard to fake, with thoughtful touches that actually make sense for how people travel now. I mean, there’s proper counter space in the kitchen area (revolutionary concept, I know), and the bathroom setup is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect in Bologna’s historic center. The host clearly gets that travelers want to feel settled, not like they’re camping in someone else’s space. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – none of that awkward key-juggling you sometimes get with apartment rentals.

What really won me over, though, was the location intelligence. Via San Felice puts you about a seven-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but more importantly, you’re right in the sweet spot for actual Bologna life. There’s this fantastic little osteria – Osteria del Sole – just around the corner where locals bring their own food and buy wine by the glass, and the morning market action on Via Drapperie is close enough that you’ll hear the vendors setting up (in a good way, not a “why am I awake at 6 AM” way). The street itself stays pretty quiet after evening aperitivo hours, which is clutch if you’re trying to recover from all that Bolognese wine.

I’ll be honest – the 9.8 rating had me skeptical at first because those numbers can be inflated, but after staying here, it actually makes sense. The attention to detail is consistent throughout, from the way the apartment flows (you’re not bumping into furniture constantly) to practical stuff like having enough outlets where you actually need them. Plus, Bologna in general rewards this kind of low-key, neighborhood-focused approach to accommodation. You’re not here for hotel amenities anyway – you’re here for the city, and this place positions you perfectly for that without any unnecessary fuss.

The “central” part of the description delivers without the usual trade-offs. You can walk to the main sights easily, but Via San Felice also connects you to some of Bologna’s better-kept secrets, like the little wine bars tucked into the streets heading toward the university district. It’s the kind of base that makes you feel like you’re discovering things rather than just checking boxes off a tourist list.

  Excellent, walkable location! Despite being next to several bars/restaurants, it was incredibly quiet at night. The bed was also very comfortable, so I was able to get a good night’s sleep after long days spent exploring the city. The building felt very secure, which was important to me as a solo female traveler. The kitchen was stocked with everything needed for cooking, along with a bottle of prosecco, waters, juice, plenty of coffee, and some snacks. The hosts were very kind and available to answer any questions I had during my stay.
  
  What could be improved: Just something to be aware of—there are a lot of stairs to navigate once inside the building, which might be a challenge for some, especially if you have heavy luggage.

  This place is just amazing – spacious, and has everything you need to feel right at home. It’s also really quiet, since the windows face an inner courtyard – no traffic, no noise, just peace.
  
  A couple minutes walk away there’s a small market with a great little spot called Vini e Sapuri – perfect for lunch if you’re lucky to grab a table. And in another corner of the market, they make fresh piadine right in front of you – so good!
  
  I was honestly blown away by how well everything was thought out. There were different kinds of coffee, some yummy snacks, juice, milk, butter in the fridge, even basics like salt and sugar – all ready for us. Everything was spotless, the towels were soft and fresh, even the trash sorting was super clear and easy. And the flowers on the windowsill? Just such a lovely touch.
  
  Sabina, our host, is the sweetest person. Thank you so much for the warm welcome – and especially for the little surprises for my daughter. She hasn’t let go of the tiny monkey since!

  I was so impressed with the level of care Sabina puts into her b and b, every possible little detail was covered…and then some. More often than not, b and b's are a major disappointment, but when traveling with our toddler they are the more convenient choice. But this was one of the best I have ever seen. Great size, spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, good location, and such kindness and attention to detail. I would give it an 11 out of 10 if I could. Next time we are in Bologna, I will definitely try to stay here again.

  It was our second stay at this apartment. It is cozy and comfortable and within walking distance of the center. It is safe and secure, and Sabina is just a message away to answer questions. I recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic Bologna experience.
