The rooms aren’t huge – this is medieval Bologna, after all – but they’re thoughtfully designed with these beautiful exposed beams and updated bathrooms that actually have decent water pressure (something you can’t take for granted in historic Italian hotels, trust me). The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood; when I asked about dinner spots, they didn’t just rattle off tourist traps but recommended this tiny osteria around the corner on Via dell’Indipendenza that I never would’ve found otherwise.

Here’s the thing about the location that really matters – you’re close enough to everything that you won’t wear out your shoes, but far enough from the main tourist drag that you won’t hear drunk study-abroad students stumbling home at 2 AM. The morning sounds are more like… well, actual Italian life. Coffee machines hissing, shopkeepers opening their metal shutters, the occasional Vespa puttering by. There’s a little café literally next door where the owner, Marco, makes these incredible cappuccinos and actually remembers how you like your coffee after day two. The hotel’s breakfast is solid (nothing fancy, but good bread and proper Italian coffee), though I’d honestly skip it some mornings just to sit with the locals at Marco’s place. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – Bologna’s centro storico isn’t exactly car-friendly – but the hotel staff knows which garages won’t cost you a fortune and they’ll actually call ahead to reserve a spot if you ask nicely. That kind of attention to practical details really shows they understand what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos.

  The apartment was literally on the center square of the city – we've couldn't have asked for a better location.
  Despite not having a reception, we were in constant contact with the host and everything we've needed was quickly answered.
  The room was really clean and comfortable bed.
  
  What could be improved: The size of the restroom was really small and to access the bed we needed to climb a narrow stair. For us it was no problem for both, but booking asks for what we don't like.

  We were lucky to get to this apartment. It is located in the very center of the city. The entrance to the building is in front of the main square, very beautiful historical area.
  The apartment is small but functional, and the bedroom is on the second floor. Windows face inner yard, and it is really quiet.
  There is a refrigerator, microwave, stove, tea and coffee makers, air-conditioning, etc.
  Things to be aware are -the staircase to the second floor is quite narrow and the bed could be wider. But after the first night, we stopped noticing it.

  Incredible location, can't get more central than that, but window overlooks courtyard so no issues with street noise or anything like that. Impeccably clean, nice sheets, many sockets. The building was beautiful. Smooth and easy communication. We enjoyed our stay very much.
  
  What could be improved: Would be lovely to add a caddy or something in the shower where you can put your shampoo. Late check-in and early check-out time were a bit of a surprise, but maybe it was an oversight on my part and I should have noticed earlier.
