Corte Galliera 1 Overview
You know what struck me first about Corte Galliera 1? It’s tucked away on Via Volturno in this absolutely perfect spot where you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but the street itself has this quiet, almost residential vibe that makes you feel like you’re staying in a local’s neighborhood rather than tourist central.
The building itself is one of those gorgeous Bologna conversions – they’ve taken what was clearly a historic palazzo and turned it into something that honestly feels more like staying at a well-traveled friend’s apartment than a hotel. The rooms have these beautiful high ceilings (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate in summer) and the kind of restored details that make you want to run your hands along the walls. What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep the character intact while actually making everything work properly – the Wi-Fi is solid, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a freight train, and the bathrooms are genuinely spacious. You’d be surprised how many “charming” Italian hotels fail at these basics.
The location is honestly unbeatable if you want to experience Bologna like someone who actually lives here. You’re close enough to the university area that you’ll hear students chatting as they walk by in the evenings, but far enough from the main drags that you won’t be dealing with late-night noise from the bars around Via del Pratello. There’s this fantastic little enoteca about two blocks away that I stumbled across purely because I was staying in the neighborhood – the kind of place where locals grab their evening aperitivo and you can actually have a conversation. And here’s something I really appreciated: you can walk to the central market in the morning without fighting through crowds, grab proper coffee from any of the bars along the way, and still be back before the tour buses start clogging up the historic center. The whole area around Via Volturno has this lived-in quality that reminds you Bologna isn’t just a museum – it’s actually a city where people work and study and have their daily routines. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond the city center, you’re perfectly positioned to reach the train station without the hassle of navigating through all the ZTL zones with luggage.

Reviews of Corte Galliera 1
Clean, quiet, spacious rental near the best of Bologna – Michelle from United States – 14 July 2025 (10/10)
We absolutely loved our stay in this apartment. It's two bedrooms and a living room on three different levels so there's a lot of room to stretch out and enjoy the space. Bathrooms are spacious and clean, bedrooms are well appointed. We also really enjoyed the private terrace. My family and I were there in the heat of July and the air conditioning was AMAZING. Some nights we even felt a little cold! Laundry worked well and shower pressure was great. We'd love to stay here again – near everything there is to see in central Bologna but super quiet and private.
What could be improved: Host provided just a few shampoo packets, small bars of soap and 2 laundry pods. Not enough for a 5-night stay in the heat of summer so we purchased supplies at the nearby market. The front door lock is tricky and doesn't work correctly if the handle is in the wrong position, which made the first few times we entered a bit stressful but host was eager to help us out. More pillows would have been great too. But these are small things – overall this apartment is fantastic.Excellent! – Smith from South Africa – 7 July 2025 (9/10)
The premises were great, and the location is perfect for tourists wanting to do sightseeing. The accommodation is well-equipped and spacious. I will strongly recommend the unit to prospective travellers. We had a great time in Bologna, and the unit contributed to the overall experience!
I would advise that the managing agent assist tourists with booking of taxi services for departure – a nightmare for international visitors…
What could be improved: No assistance with taxi services on departureIf we ever come back to Bologna we’ll book this again! – Thessa from United Kingdom – 30 June 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful spacious flat in the centre of Bologna. Nice outdoor space and the air con was much appreciated in 33 degrees! Completely digital access made things very easy. Had everything we needed and good correspondence with the host.
What could be improved: Had a little difficulty opening the apartment door on arrival (probably us being tired arriving at 10pm!), it was completely fine after that. We couldn’t connect to the wi-fi no matter how many times we tried the password and QR code, but it wasn’t an issue as we both had signal.Great spot close to everything – Kevin from United States – 21 June 2025 (10/10)
The space was great. The ability to step outside was very welcoming. Everything was clean and working order.
What could be improved: Lots of stairs but we knew that when booking.Very convenient and comfortable. Chiara was thoughtful and attentive though check-in went smoothly and we didn’t need to – William from Australia – 17 June 2025 (9/10)
The apartment confirmed previous, typically very positive comments. There were no surprises and our brief stay was nonetheless very convenient and comfortable.
What could be improved: The location is great, very central, fairly close to the train station and very close to city centre attractions.Superb – Trent from Canada – 16 May 2025 (9/10)

Location was excellent everything was within a 6 minute walk. Lovely outside area to sit in the sun. Well equipped kitchen.
What could be improved: The automated key access using you mobile phone, it worked fine but one day I had trouble with my phone and we couldn’t get on thr internet and it took us a while to get in the apartment.Easy access to everything, nice facilities, great food close by. – Paul from Australia – 27 January 2025 (9/10)
Great location, easy to get around.
What could be improved: Front access onto street with traffic. Could do with a warning sign.can only recommend – Davide from Switzerland – 18 November 2024 (10/10)

The easy of accessing the appartment. The location was perfect between centre and train station. It was immaculate. 2 bedrooms with a shower room each. Laundry facilities. Terrace. Sitting room and kitchen. All well stocked.
Absolutely would come back here if returning to Bologna.
