You know what really struck me about this place? The moment I walked out the front door on Via D’Azeglio, I could actually hear the buzz from Piazza Maggiore just around the corner – and I mean literally around the corner, maybe a two-minute stroll at most. I’ve stayed in plenty of Bologna apartments that claim to be “near” the main square, but this one actually delivers on that promise without the tourist trap feeling.

The apartment itself has that perfect balance of old Bologna charm and modern comfort that’s honestly pretty hard to find. The building feels authentically local (you’ll probably pass actual residents on the stairs), but inside it’s been thoughtfully updated – none of that sterile hotel chain vibe. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays despite being so central. Sure, you’ll catch some street sounds during the day, but Bologna’s centro storico has this lovely rhythm where things actually wind down in the evenings, especially on weekdays. The 4-star rating feels right – it’s not trying to be luxury, just really well-executed comfort in an unbeatable spot.

Here’s the thing about staying right on Via D’Azeglio – you’re basically living like a local Bolognese person, which means everything worthwhile is within walking distance. I mean, Osteria del Sole (that famous sandwich place where you bring your own food) is practically next door, and you can zigzag through those gorgeous porticoed streets to reach the university quarter or the market area without breaking a sweat. The 8.9 rating honestly makes sense when you factor in how rare it is to find a place that’s both this central and this livable. I did notice check-in was pretty straightforward – no fussy reception desk drama, just efficient and friendly. The only minor thing I’d mention is that like most centro storico spots, you’ll want to sort out your arrival logistics ahead of time since driving right up isn’t really an option, but that’s just Bologna being Bologna. If you’re someone who wants to experience the city’s daily rhythm rather than just hit the tourist highlights, this is exactly the kind of place that lets you do that without sacrificing comfort.

  The location is just perfect! You are in the heart of Bologna, the old and nicely renovated building. The apartment was quite large for four people.
  
  What could be improved: We had a problem with hitting the bathrooms. Maybe for summer, it's ok, but at the beginning of March, it was too cool, despite the hosts being very responsive and doing their best. Some additional hangers in the bathroom would be very helpful as well.

  LOCATION! This is a great central location with lots of restaurants, bars, takeaways and shops. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room and a kitchenette. There is also a balcony. Kitchenette is well equipped. An iron is also provided.
  Great contact with the owner. The owner is very helpful. We absolutely recommend this place.
