That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled across this attico on via Musolesi. The name basically translates to “penthouse with spectacular view and jacuzzi” – and honestly, they’re not overselling it.

The location is what really got me excited, though. Via Musolesi sits in this quiet residential pocket that’s about a 15-minute walk from the historic center, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds stumbling back from the bars at 2 AM. I mean, don’t get me wrong – I love Bologna’s nightlife – but when you’re trying to sleep off too much Lambrusco, you’ll appreciate the peace. The area has this authentic neighborhood feel where you’ll see actual Bolognesi walking their dogs and chatting with shopkeepers, not just people taking selfies with maps. There’s a fantastic little alimentari just around the corner where the owner remembers your order after two visits, and the bus connections to the centro are actually pretty solid if you don’t feel like walking.

What really sets this place apart is that jacuzzi situation on what I assume is the terrace or balcony area. After spending days wandering Bologna’s porticoes (which are gorgeous but murder on your feet), there’s something almost therapeutic about soaking while looking out over the city’s red rooftops. The view apparently takes in quite a bit of the skyline – you know how Bologna has that beautiful mix of medieval towers and terracotta tiles stretching in every direction. The 4-star rating feels about right; it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but the finishes and amenities are definitely a step above your typical apartment rental. That 8.2 rating suggests most people leave pretty satisfied, though I’d guess there might be occasional hiccups with things like WiFi or hot water that keep it from being perfect – just the reality of staying in converted residential buildings.

The whole setup screams “romantic getaway” or “treat yourself trip” rather than business travel or family vacation. I can picture it being absolutely perfect for couples who want to experience Bologna like locals but with that extra touch of indulgence. The apartment-style accommodation means you can grab fresh pasta and ingredients from Mercato delle Erbe and actually cook something decent, then soak in the jacuzzi with a bottle of Sangiovese as the sun sets over the city. During peak season – especially during food festivals or university events – I’d book this well in advance since there’s probably only one unit, and places like this tend to get snapped up quickly by people who’ve stayed before and know what they’re getting into.

  Very nice apartment. Fully equipped, even more than necessary. The part of the apartment where the jacuzzi is located is a small spa in itself. A beautiful view of the old part of Bologna. pretty close to everything and well connected. Best accommodation so far after many stays in this beautiful city. Now I know where I will always return

  Very spacious and the host was friendly and helpful where he could be.
  
  What could be improved: Jacuzzi tub pipes were not attached and it ended up flooding the apartment when we drained it. It seems as if the property was not prepared for renting and there was not enough towels, the WiFi didn’t work most of the time. There wasn’t much amenities available and it was unfortunate that nothing really worked in the apartment.

  the apartment is great, 20 minutes walk to piazza maggiore; lovely terrace (and another balcony), the view is gorgeous especially at sunset. jacuzzi is fantastic 🙂
  
  What could be improved: didn’t appreciate the presence of the cameras, they seemed to be orientated towards the beds…; the door lock is electronic, with a code not always working. we had to enter the code 10 times until the door unlocked.

  This is a great place to stay for a trip to Bologna! The jacuzzi and home theater make the stay wonderful on their own, but the terrace with a view of downtown Bologna in the distance is really the cherry on top. The apartment is spacious, well lit, and has nearly everything you’ll need for a short stay.
  Working the home theater may be a little challenging at first, but the host is very kind and responsive and gives detailed instructions on how to get it set up.
  It’s only about a 20 minute walk to the city center, and it’s nice to be out of the crowds when you’re ready to be done for the day. This is a great place for couples!
