This four-star property doesn’t try to be flashy — it’s more about understated elegance and making you feel like you’ve got your own little corner of the city. The check-in process happens at Via Fratelli Rosselli 14, which honestly threw me off at first, but the staff explained that the apartments are scattered around different prime locations in the historic center.

I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Bologna’s centro storico, and couples seem to absolutely love it — they consistently rate the location 8.5 out of 10. From my apartment, I could walk to Piazza Maggiore in about five minutes, and the famous Two Towers were practically around the corner. The neighborhood has that authentic Italian vibe where locals actually live and work, not just a tourist bubble. Plus, there’s parking available if you’re driving, which is honestly a godsend in Bologna’s narrow medieval streets.

Each unit has a proper kitchen area, which came in handy when I wanted to grab fresh ingredients from the nearby Mercato delle Erbe and cook something simple. The apartments vary since they’re in different buildings, but mine had this lovely mix of modern amenities and classic Italian touches. The space felt lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense.

The breakfast situation here is actually quite impressive — they offer continental, Italian, and even gluten-free options in a buffet style. I particularly loved the Italian breakfast setup with proper espresso and fresh cornetti, though honestly, being so close to some of Bologna’s best cafes, I found myself wandering out for morning coffee more often than not. The restaurant scene in this neighborhood is incredible, and you’re within walking distance of some places that locals have been going to for generations.

  Beds were comfortable and location was good; 15min walk from city center. Air conditioning was a life saver and everything was very clean.

  Overall a fantastic and newly refurbished apartment in great location close (10 minutes walk) to the central station.
  It was clean and well presented with new kitchen and bathroom facilities along with plenty of storage. The apartment was easy to find after following the clear instructions received after booking to check in at the Hotel Astoria (2 minutes away) and collect the key.
  The hotel reception staff were very polite and provided information on the local area (main square 15-20 minutes walk) and a map, they also allowed us to store our luggage when checking out so we could see more of the city before onwards travel.
  It was also nice to be allowed to take some time to rest in the hotel dining area before collecting our luggage.
  
  What could be improved: Not a major negative but it would be nice if the hotel could provide some basic cooking and meal preparation products such as condiments, oil etc but I understand that this may not be wanted but maybe sealed small packets of them would be great to help us cook a meal if we brought the ingredients.
  TV would be better placed in the lounge room not bedroom.
  The bed headboard was worn, but the bed itself was fantastic.

  The apartment was perfect! It had all you could need and there was shops, restaurants and bakerys close by. This is my third time booking with Astoria and I have been pleased everytime. This time I had my baby with me and she enjoyed being able to crawl around the apartment!

  What could be improved: The accommodation offers clean spaces and a convenient location for our needs. Parking is quite good compared to other Italian cities, with several options nearby. A breakfast bistro is just a 3-minute walk away, and the city center is within easy reach. Overall, a practical and comfortable place to stay.
