Bleis Hotel Overview

You know what struck me first about Bleis Hotel? It’s tucked away on Via Del Gomito in this quietly sophisticated part of Bologna that most tourists completely miss — and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. I mean, you’re still walking distance from the historic center, but you’re not dealing with all the chaos of the main tourist strips. The street itself is one of those narrow Bologna lanes where you can actually hear yourself think, which is saying something in a city where Vespas seem to have their own language.

The hotel itself feels like someone took a traditional Bolognese building and gave it just the right amount of modern touch without losing its soul. The lobby has this warm, lived-in elegance — not the sterile marble-and-chrome thing you get at chain hotels, but actual character. Check-in was refreshingly smooth (they actually remembered my name from the reservation), and the staff… well, they’re the kind of people who’ll draw you a little map to the best tortellini place that’s not in any guidebook. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed — good lighting for actually reading, proper outlets where you need them, and beds that don’t make you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud made of concrete. The bathrooms are surprisingly spacious for Italy, with that perfect water pressure that makes you want to stay in the shower forever.

But here’s what really gets me about this place: it sits in this sweet spot where you’re genuinely living like a local for a few days. Walk five minutes toward the university area and you’re in the middle of student life — great little bars, bookshops, that authentic energy. Head the other direction and you hit the food markets where actual Bolognese people shop for dinner. The hotel staff seems to get this too; they’re not pushing tourist traps on you, they’re sharing places they’d actually go themselves. Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving (welcome to Bologna), but they’ll help you figure it out, and honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t want to use the car anyway. The neighborhood comes alive in the evenings — not rowdy, just… alive. You’ll hear conversations drifting from trattorias, the gentle hum of people actually living their lives rather than just passing through. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next Bologna trip before you’ve even checked out.

Reviews of Bleis Hotel

  • Perfect stay in Bologna – Lilja from Iceland – 13 July 2025 (10/10)

The atmosphere is excellent and the staff clearly like what they do. Everything we had to eat was perfect and just the way we like it. The rooms were really nice and the beds good. We will be back to Bleis hotel on our next stay in Bologna.

  • Superb – Dan from Romania – 12 July 2025 (9/10)

It was very clean, super cozy, the personal was very kind. We found in camera all the stuff that we needed and the breakfast was very good, rich and the details off the room and hotel are very well chosen

What could be improved: It s far from the centre town, but the bus takes you right there.
About the room, didn’t like the fact that the window was facing the street and you could be seen from outside.

  • Superb – Laura from Germany – 10 July 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful interior snd very clean. The staff was (almost everyone) very friendly and helpful.

What could be improved: The area was a bit dodgy, it is right next to a prison and there were some drunks in the area. The didn’t bother you, but if you take the bus, you will notice. Again, no problems, just to keep in mind.

  • This is the hotel I would stay at should I visit Bologna again. – Armenise from United Kingdom – 3 July 2025 (9/10)

The room was large, the bed very comfortable, the shower super and the breakfast better than I would have expected in a budget hotel.

  • Memorable stay. – Ronny from United Arab Emirates – 27 June 2025 (10/10)

Everything is likable about it, specially all the staff working there. They will go beyond to make your stay better.
From the little notes in your room and on the tables, to the food and drinks, everything is enjoyable.

What could be improved: A little too far from the city center.

  • GREAT stay – Recommend! – Hugo from Israel – 25 June 2025 (10/10)

Great facilities, very nice design, comfortable, amazing amenities, good coffee machine in the room. Bedding very soft. Great breakfast. Quiet place! Very nice staff, specially Alessandro!

What could be improved: A bit far from center but bus at the door.

  • Travellers 1 class 🙂 – Rafał from Poland – 23 June 2025 (9/10)

Distinguisged design and a beautiful internal garden.

What could be improved: Nothing 🙂

  • Very nice place to stay -recommended – Andrej from Slovakia – 15 June 2025 (9/10)

Almost everything, nic people good price, almost perfect.

What could be improved: The location is a little out but we did know where it was when we booked it so its not really a negative

  • Very good – Jose from Chile – 9 June 2025 (8/10)

Great breakfast, renovated room, friendly staff. Little far from city center but easy to move around

What could be improved: Bar closes early, no much option to eat after that (no near restaurants or minimarket)

  • What a great find! – Elizabeth from United Kingdom – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

What a find! This hotel was very good value, so much so that we worried that it was too good to be true. We arrived there and it was by far the nicest hotel we'd stayed in over our 10 day trip to Northern Italy – many of these other hotels had cost three times the price! Our room was in the annex and so we suspect these might be the better rooms, but not sure as we didn't see the others. It was lovely! Tasteful, fresh and clean. Very well equipped. Everything taken care of. The hotel is located at the edge of Bologna but the 25 bus is very regular and reliable – just a 2 minute walk away. Breakfast was very well organised and had plenty of choice. Staff were super friendly and helpful.
