Via di Saliceto runs through the Bolognina neighborhood, which honestly used to be pretty rough but has transformed into this cool, artsy area that most visitors never discover. I mean, you’re still close enough to walk to the centro storico (maybe 20 minutes on foot), but you get to experience the city the way Bolognesi do.

The apartment itself is one of those 4-star places that earns every bit of its 9.3 rating because they’ve nailed the details that actually matter. The conversion from what was probably a traditional Bologna townhouse keeps those gorgeous high ceilings and original terracotta floors, but everything else feels thoroughly modern without being sterile. The kitchen – and this is important if you’re planning to hit the Mercato delle Erbe for fresh ingredients – actually has decent counter space and proper cookware. Not those sad hotel kitchenettes with one dull knife and a microwave. The bed linens are that perfect weight where you’re not too hot in summer or freezing when the tramontana winds kick up in winter.

Here’s something I loved: the neighborhood comes alive in the evening when everyone’s doing their passeggiata, and there’s this little osteria called Da Bertino just two blocks away where you’ll be the only non-Italian in the place. The sound of conversations drifting up from the street around aperitivo time is honestly better than any hotel entertainment. Parking can be tricky – it’s mostly resident zones during the day – but the host was super helpful about where to find spots, and there’s actually a small garage about five minutes away if you don’t mind paying a bit extra. The building itself is quiet; I was worried about street noise, but Bologna’s residential areas settle down pretty early, and the windows are solid. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward hotel lobby hovering, just clear instructions and keys that actually work smoothly. If I had one tiny complaint, it’s that the shower pressure varies depending on what the upstairs neighbors are doing, but that’s pretty typical for these converted buildings, and honestly, it’s a small price to pay for staying somewhere that feels genuinely connected to the city rather than floating above it in some anonymous hotel bubble.

  Nous avons séjourné pour des raisons professionnelles car nous avions un salon au Fiere. L'emplacement était pratique nous y étions en 15 minutes à pied. Très propre et bien équipé

  – walls of the apartment are quite thin, so we could hear the neighbours and they coud certainly here us (mind that silent hours are not only during the night but between 13.00 and 15.00 as well)
  – we were at the apartment after 20.00 and had to pay additional 20 EUR fee for this. Information about it is on the aparment booking profile (one of the last pictures), and the fact that I did not catch it was my mistake… Still, this is quite silly in the era of self check-in
  – no resting area in the flat (e.g. sofa)

  Perfecto apartamento, todo nuevo e impecable. Las camas eran muy cómodas. Buena ubicación. Las habitaciones estan bien equipadas con armario, mesas, luces y televisor. A 20 min del centro de Bolonia y a 15 de la Estacion de tren Central.

  Beautiful apartment – lovely fresh decor – everything was spotless. The bed was so comfy. Shower was fab. Great location. Handy for buses to Stazione Centrale and Piazza Maggiore.

  The host was very nice and helpful whenever we needed something. There is a supermarket really close to the appartament, and you can get to the central station by 20 min walk, as well as the congress center.
  
  What could be improved: We would have liked to have air condition in two rooms (only avaliable in one). To help, the host brought a fan but with the Bologna heat this was not enough. However, the stay was still very nice and four people fit in the AC room.
