The name literally means “hidden courtyard” and that’s exactly what you get – this quiet little gem tucked away on Via Massarenti that feels like a secret even though it’s right in the middle of everything. I mean, you’re technically in the Sant’Orsola area, which honestly most tourists never venture into, but that’s exactly why it works so well.

The apartment itself has this lived-in elegance that you just can’t fake. The owners clearly put thought into every detail – from the way the morning light hits the kitchen counter to the fact that they actually provide decent coffee (not that instant stuff you usually get). The courtyard is genuinely peaceful, which is saying something in Bologna, and I found myself having breakfast out there most mornings just listening to the neighborhood come alive. You’re close enough to the university district that there’s energy in the air, but far enough from the tourist chaos around Piazza Maggiore that you can actually think clearly. The walk to the historic center takes maybe 20 minutes on foot, or you can hop on the bus – the stop is literally around the corner on Massarenti, and the locals are surprisingly patient with confused tourists fumbling with tickets.

Here’s what I actually appreciated: the check-in process was refreshingly straightforward, parking is manageable (there’s street parking if you’re lucky, or a garage nearby if you’re not), and the whole place feels authentically Bolognese without trying too hard. The kitchen is properly equipped – I mean, you can actually cook a real meal, not just reheat leftovers. The bed is comfortable enough that I overslept twice, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes like so many places do. Sure, it’s not fancy in that sterile luxury hotel way, but it’s got character and warmth that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The neighborhood has this wonderful mix of students, families, and old-timers who’ve been there forever – you’ll hear them chatting in the courtyard in the evenings, and there’s something genuinely charming about being part of that rhythm, even temporarily. Plus, you’re walking distance from some fantastic osterie that tourists never find, which honestly might be the best part of staying here.

  Great location to visit Bologna, only 20-25 minutes on foot to the city center! Quiet, nice apartment with all necessary facilities to cook/eat every day (basic salt,oil and soap) at the flat with really fresh local products (cooperative market only 5 minutes away on foot). Host was really helpful and welcomed us explaining everything. Flat is not super modern but really clean and wellcared for.

  the apartment was really nice and fully equipped. we didnt expect it to be so perfect. the bed was really comfortable and everything was clean. the host is super nice and will help with problems if you have any. the location for us was nice although we had to walk a little bit to the station and centrum. and there is an excelent pizza near!!
