Appartamenti Pratello Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Bologna, and Appartamenti Pratello honestly surprised me – in the best way possible. You know Via del Pratello, right? That cobblestone street that locals actually hang out on, not just tourists? Well, these apartments sit right in the heart of it all, and I mean that literally. When I first walked up to number 7, I could hear the gentle buzz from the wine bars and trattorias that make this neighborhood what it is. But here’s the thing – once you’re inside, it’s surprisingly quiet. The old buildings here have thick walls, so you get that perfect balance of being in the action but still able to actually sleep.
The apartment itself felt like staying at a friend’s place, if your friend happened to have really good taste and attention to detail. Everything worked properly (you’d be amazed how rare that is in some Italian rentals), and the kitchen was actually equipped for cooking, not just reheating leftovers. I particularly loved the way morning light filtered through the windows – there’s something about that golden Bologna light that hits differently. The bathroom was modern without feeling sterile, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than my place back home. What really got me though was the little touches: good coffee in the cupboard, local recommendations written by hand, that sort of thing that makes you feel like someone actually cares about your experience.
The location is just… well, it’s perfect if you want to experience Bologna like someone who lives here. Via del Pratello is this wonderful mix of university students, local families, and food lovers who know where to find the good stuff. You’re literally a two-minute walk from some of the best aperitivo spots in the city – I’m talking about places where you’ll hear more Italian than English, which is increasingly rare in city centers. The morning market on Via Ugo Bassi is right around the corner, and if you’re into the whole foodie scene, you can walk to Mercato di Mezzo without breaking a sweat. Parking can be a bit tricky (it’s a historic center, what do you expect?), but there are options nearby if you’re driving. The 9.2 rating makes total sense to me – it’s that rare combination of authentic location, thoughtful amenities, and that indefinable feeling that you’re staying somewhere special rather than just convenient. I’d definitely book here again, and I’m pretty picky about these things.

Reviews of Appartamenti Pratello
Bologna Stay – Niamh from Ireland – 16 July 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location, close to the main square. Sofia the host was very friendly. Bed was comfortable and a nice cold bottle of water was waiting for us in the fridge, much appreciated in the July heat!
What could be improved: Balcony door was a little tricky to close but not a major issue because it's a private balcony.Exceptional – Ana from Portugal – 2 July 2025 (10/10)
The host was very nice. The room is near the center of the city and everything was very clean and perfect.
Unusual apartment in the heart of Bologna – Edyta from Poland – 25 June 2025 (10/10)
The apartment is great, spacious and extraordinary. It is something more than just a normal flat, it takes you back to the previous times. It is located very central, close to the main attractions of the city, with lost of good restaurants nearby. Even it is central it is quiet at night. The landlord is very helpful, nice and always ready to give you a good piece of advice. Very good communication with the owner. His recommendations of restarants were very good. I would definitely recommemnd this place either to a family or a group of friends to stay in Bologna and feel the unusual atmosphere of the city. I would like to come back to this place once I am in Bologna!
Enjoyable and would recommend. – Ashling from Ireland – 24 June 2025 (8/10)
Good location, clean, everything we needed.
What could be improved: Nothing major – pretty basic. No English channels on TV when most people using it would be tourists who speak predominantly English.Exceptional – Mike from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (10/10)
Huge apartment, very well equipped and comfortable. Very close to main city centre for tourist sights and shops. Giulio could not have been more helpful. The free luggage storage is also a great help. Highly recommend this apartment.
Exceptional – Polina from United Kingdom – 10 June 2025 (10/10)
Clean, central apartment! Really liked the interior and the owner was kind and easy to communicate with! Having previously stayed in Bologna and found it hard to find a place that time, this place proved to be an amazing find! Would stay again!
Super, comfortable apartment in perfect location – Claire from United Kingdom – 7 June 2025 (10/10)
Brilliant location.
Very comfortable bad!
What could be improved: The bathroom door!Exceptional – Andrew from Switzerland – 1 June 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location, very very spacious and comfortable. Clean. Very welcoming and helpful hosts – opportunity to leave luggage after 11am very much appreciated. Very good double-glazing so noise from the street was shut out. Good value for money.
What could be improved: A very minor jibe – No black tea bags – we aren't all into Greeen tea!!!Relaxing – Julian from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (9/10)
Spacious property near the centre
All worked well
What could be improved: The property is in a student area which can get noisy on Friday and sat night – however the windows do have double glazing which cuts out most of the noiseNice location, excellent stay, very nice landlord. Thank you Giulio. – Angela from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (8/10)
The location was very good and not accessible by cars but only a 1 minute walk from the main road where the taxi left us.
In the evening, especially at the weekend, the road gets crowded, because of a few street bars and trattorias, however the buzz doesn' t reach the room, which is very quiet.
Our room was located on the first floor with the ensuite bathroom, it was spacious and comfortable with a little terrace, convenient for a short and long stay.
The room offers a comfy bed, wardrobe, a library corner with few books, a sofa with TV, a small kitchenette with fridge and a coffee maker. Clean and fresh towels were provided.
The landlord Giulio is a very kind person, gave us a full explaination on location, room facilities and how to reach our target site.
He also kindly waited for our late check-in, which we really appreciated as not many landlords would do.
We loved the place, the location and will definitely use it again for future visits.
What could be improved: The room was located on the first floor, perhaps not ideally for someone with foot or knee injury like me. Although, I have to say it was bereable.
Found it particularly handy the staircase handrail.
Anyway, Giulio does have a ground floor rooms as well.
On the overall excellent experience we had, one minor point could added an extra star to our stay.
As we are a coffee lovers some coffee pods and teas would have been a plus. Although, some coffee pods were provided, they were not enough for our stay, and being used to wake up and drink our espresso we missed that.
