Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Agriturismo Ben Ti Voglio, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. You know how it is with these converted farmhouses outside Bologna… some are genuinely charming, others feel like someone just slapped “agriturismo” on a sign and called it a day. But this place? It actually gets it right.

The drive out to Località Castell’Arienti takes you through proper countryside – I mean, you’re still technically in Bologna’s territory, but you’d never know it from all the rolling hills and actual farmland. The property itself sits on this gentle slope where you can see the city’s skyline in the distance, which is pretty perfect if you ask me. You get that peaceful rural vibe without being completely cut off from civilization. The owners clearly put thought into preserving the original farmhouse character while making it actually comfortable for guests. The rooms have these thick stone walls that keep things wonderfully cool in summer (trust me, you’ll appreciate this in July), and the breakfast setup happens in what used to be the main barn – they’ve kept the original wooden beams overhead, which creates this lovely rustic atmosphere without feeling forced.

What really won me over, though, was how they handle the small stuff. Check-in is refreshingly personal – no marble lobby nonsense, just genuine conversation about the local area and honest recommendations. The parking situation is straightforward (you just pull up near the main building), and honestly, the whole place has this lived-in quality that makes you want to stick around longer than planned. The grounds are well-maintained without being overly manicured, if that makes sense. There’s a pool area that catches the afternoon sun perfectly, and the surrounding olive groves create natural privacy between you and the neighboring properties. I especially loved the evening atmosphere – you can hear the countryside settling down for the night, maybe some distant church bells from one of the nearby villages, but nothing that disrupts your sleep. The breakfast deserves a mention too – they actually serve local products rather than the usual hotel buffet suspects, including some excellent prosciutto and cheese that probably came from farms within a few kilometers. The only minor thing I’d mention is that the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, but honestly? That might be exactly what you need anyway. For the price point and the overall experience, this place delivers on its promises without overselling itself – which is rarer than you’d think in this part of Italy.

  We got a warm welcome from staff. This was our second stay – the first was during floods in Bologna in October 2024. On both occasions the welcome was warm and friendly. The restaurant is excellent with a good range of choices. The grounds are extensive and provide an opportunity for exercise.
  
  What could be improved: Breakfast not as good on this occasion as on the first visit, probably because more guests and no time to prepare individual meals as before. Still good value for money and a wide choice of options.

  A beautiful location in the country. The Agriturismo is finished to a high standard and is well maintained. Breakfast was excellent. We arrived during a flood event affecting Bologna and surrounding towns. The owners made us feel at home and went above band beyond to make us feel safe and cared for.
