You know what surprised me most about this place? The self check-in actually works perfectly – I mean, I was skeptical at first because we’ve all had those nightmare experiences with automated everything, but they’ve really nailed it here. The 4 Star Suite SPA sits right on Viale Angelo Masini, which honestly is one of those streets that feels residential enough to be quiet but you’re still just a quick walk from the action. I stayed here twice last year and both times I was impressed by how they manage to feel like a proper boutique spot without all the pretentious nonsense.

The suites themselves are… well, they’re actually suites, not just hotel rooms with a sitting area thrown in as an afterthought. The spa element isn’t some tiny corner with a single massage chair – they’ve got proper facilities that you’d expect from a place charging these rates. What I really appreciated was the attention to sound insulation; Bologna can get pretty lively, especially on weekends when the students are out, but inside these rooms it’s genuinely peaceful. The neighborhood itself is sort of perfectly positioned – you’re close enough to Via del Pratello (where all the good aperitivo spots are) but far enough from the tourist crowds that descend on Piazza Maggiore.

Here’s something the booking sites don’t tell you: parking around there is actually manageable if you know where to look. There’s street parking that locals use, and the staff (even with the self check-in system) are responsive when you need recommendations. The 9.1 rating makes sense when you consider that this isn’t trying to be everything to everyone – it’s targeting people who want space, quiet, and that spa component without paying luxury hotel prices. I’ve recommended it to friends who were visiting for work conferences at the university, and they all said the same thing: it just works. The morning light in those suites is beautiful too, especially if you get one facing the right direction. Bologna’s got this particular quality of light that’s softer than Rome but more golden than Milan, and these windows really capture it. Honestly, for what you’re paying and what you get – including the flexibility of that check-in system – it’s become my go-to when I’m in town for more than just a night or two.

  The Turkish bath shower combination was fantastic and then being able to get in a Jacuzzi bath tube and watch something on the projection or just play some relaxing music was great. We where both really able to relax and feel cleansed after using the facilities in the room to the maximum given the shortness of our one night stay.

  Location was great! Two blocks from Bologna Centrale! Walking distance to everywhere in the city. The room was great! The bathroom even better! The bathroom has a state of the art shower, bidet, and sauna. The room has a bed and jacuzzi! The staff cleans daily! Even more, when I needed help with the jacuzzi. The response was immediate. The support and staff, were definitely great!
