The Piazza della Costituzione address might not mean much to first-time visitors, but locals know this area – it’s where the city starts feeling more residential and less touristy.

The hotel itself has that sleek, modern Italian business hotel vibe that UNA does really well. I mean, it’s a 4-star property and you can tell they’ve put thought into the details. The lobby feels spacious without being cold, and the staff actually seems to know what they’re talking about when you ask about getting around the city. What I really appreciated was how quiet the rooms are – you’d think being near the fiera would mean constant trade show chaos, but they’ve done something right with the soundproofing. The beds are proper comfortable (not those rock-hard Italian mattresses you sometimes get), and there’s this nice attention to lighting that makes the rooms feel warm rather than sterile.

Here’s the thing about staying in San Donato that guidebooks don’t always mention – you’re actually on some decent bus lines that’ll get you to Piazza Maggiore in about 15 minutes, but you’re also in walking distance of some genuinely good neighborhood restaurants that tourists never find. The hotel’s breakfast is solid (nothing revolutionary, but they do Italian coffee right and have actual local pastries), and if you’re driving, parking isn’t the nightmare it would be in the city center. I’d say this place works especially well if you’re in Bologna for business or if you want to explore the city but prefer coming back to somewhere calm in the evenings. With an 8.5 rating, it’s clearly doing something right – and honestly, after staying there, I get why people keep coming back.

  The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly. The included breakfast had a lot of variety. It's a bit of a stroll to the city center but it's easy to navigate. Plus there's 3 supermarkets nearby.
