Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Tourist House Bologna – Fringe” I thought it might be some generic budget place, but this little spot on Via delle Oche actually surprised me in the best way. The self check-in thing initially made me nervous (you know how technology can go wrong when you’re tired from traveling), but it’s actually pretty slick once you get the hang of it. You get the codes sent to your phone, and honestly, it’s kind of nice not having to make small talk with a desk clerk when you just want to crash.

The location is what really makes this place work – Via delle Oche is tucked into this quiet residential pocket that most tourists completely miss, but you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore. I mean, you can grab morning coffee at that little bar on the corner (the barista there makes the best cappuccino in the neighborhood, no joke), then wander over to see the Two Towers before the crowds hit. The street itself is narrow and cobblestoned in that authentically Bologna way, and you’ll hear the morning routine of actual locals – not just tour groups tramping around. There’s this genuine neighborhood feeling that’s getting harder to find in city centers these days.

What struck me most was how they’ve managed to keep that historic Italian character while actually making everything work properly. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Europe, after all – but they’re thoughtfully designed with good lighting and surprisingly comfortable beds. The bathroom setup is modern without being sterile, and the shower pressure is actually decent (you’d be amazed how often that’s not the case in converted historic buildings). The building itself has this old-world charm with thick walls that keep things quiet, even when the street gets busy during aperitivo hour. I stayed there during a weekend in spring and barely heard any noise from outside, which is pretty impressive considering Bologna’s nightlife scene.

The 4-star rating feels right – it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything just works the way it should. The self check-in means you’ve got flexibility with arrival times, which is clutch if you’re coming in on those late trains from Rome or Milan. And honestly, the 8.8 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting a genuinely local experience without sacrificing comfort. Sure, you won’t have a concierge to ask about restaurant recommendations, but the trade-off is staying in a real neighborhood where you can discover places on your own. Plus, let’s be real – in Bologna, you can’t really go wrong with food anyway. Just follow the locals to whatever osteria has the longest line of nonnas waiting outside.

  The location was amazing! A short walk to the train station and right near amazing restaurants and shopping! Also having air conditioning, a ceiling fan and a washing machine was amazing!! Also the owner is very responsive and gave great recommendations!

  The location of the apartment is very convenient, it's very close to the city centre and you can reach all the destinations by foot they are all nearby.
  
  The appartment has a fan and ac which is great if you're visiting in the summer. We were provided with 4 towels. The appartment also had a small kitchen with a kettle and 2 burners. It also contained all the equipment needed to cook. We found it really useful. There is also a fridge and a mini freezer in the fridge.

  Very accommodating staff – can't say enough good things! They let us drop our bags off early so we could see the city. We left a medical device behind, and they were very, very helpful in getting it back. Super nice!

  For is (couple visiting the city all day long, no cooking needed, only a clean place to shower and sleep comfortable) is was a great place to stay
  It is a studio (kitchen, living room and bedroom in the same room), but for us it wasn’t a problem at all. And the room was large with a lot of space.
  The apartment was clean, with a comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep, comfortable mattress and comfortable pillows.
  We usually don’t use the kitchen, but is was ok equipped, not sure of enough if you want to also cook your meals, but for us it wasn’t so important
  I’ve rated it a 10 because for is it had all we were looking for.
  Great location, near a lot of good restaurants, city center, train station, shops, Piazza Maggiore.
  Guido, our host offered us suport and indications where to eat (great restaurant, by the way and thank you for the recommendation – Franco Rossi restaurant, 4 minutes from the apartment)

  What could be improved: Maybe the price, because on other trips, other locations I found same apartments at cheaper prices, but we booked it on Thursday and Friday…Friday is usually more expensive and it was Imola Grand Prix weekend, so even the price has a justification (and one of the best prices I found in the city on those dates)

  The flat was very clean and had everything you need for a nice stay. The location is great because it's very quiet but you're close to the city centre and bars/restaurants. Communication with the host was perfect, very easy, quick responses and clear information on how to check in. The heating worked well and the bed was comfy 🙂
  
  What could be improved: The bed is actually 2 beds out together although it wasn't uncomfortable at all (which has been my experience in other places), so it wasn't an issue.
