You know what really struck me about La Finestra sul cortile? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re inside – there’s this lovely courtyard view that somehow makes you feel like you’re in your own little Hitchcock movie, minus the murder mystery. It’s tucked away on Via Guerrazzi, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (segundo piano, last door on the left – just follow the instructions exactly). But that’s part of what I love about it – you’re literally steps from the university quarter and all that energy, yet once you climb those stairs, it’s this peaceful retreat that feels completely removed from the street noise below.

The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious for Bologna standards, and I mean that in the best way possible. The previous owner clearly knew what they were doing with the layout – there’s actual room to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re living out of a suitcase. The kitchen is properly equipped too, which matters if you’re planning to hit the morning markets around Piazza delle Erbe (about a 10-minute walk, by the way). I actually ended up cooking more than I expected just because the space invited it, you know? The bathroom’s modern without being sterile, and the shower pressure is honestly better than what I have at home. Small thing, but when you’ve been walking around Bologna’s cobblestones all day, it matters.

What really sets this place apart though is how it captures that authentic Bologna living experience without sacrificing comfort. The courtyard view gives you these glimpses of local life – laundry hanging, neighbors chatting, that sort of everyday Italian rhythm that you miss when you’re stuck in some generic hotel. The location puts you right in the heart of student life, which means great energy and fantastic, affordable restaurants within stumbling distance. Via del Pratello is literally around the corner for your evening aperitivo needs. Sure, it can get a bit lively on weekend nights, but honestly, that’s part of the charm – you’re experiencing Bologna as it actually is, not some sanitized tourist version. I’d definitely stay here again, and I’ve already recommended it to friends who want something more authentic than the usual hotel experience.

  Splendida posizione, nel cuore della città, ma in una piazzetta che rientrava, con una chiesa e la caserma dei Carabinieri, quindi sicurissima. Le nostre stanze si affacciavano su un cortile interno ed erano decisamente tranquille sia la notte che la mattina. Camere enormi, con due letti matrimoniali molto confortevoli ciascuna, soffitti altissimi e bei colori; davano entrambe su un balconcino con tavolino e sedie, ideale per la colazione. Anche il bagno era grande e pulito. Assolutamente da consigliare!!!

  The flat is amazing with everything you may need to stay in there. The beds are very comfortable.
  There is also a little kitchen in case you wanna cook and a coffee machine.
  The position is perfect, in the middle of downtown which it makes simple to hang out around.
  Last but not less important, Anna is amazing, she’s very nice and provides many useful info about the city.
