Stayinbologna 3 Overview

You know what struck me first about Stayinbologna 3? The location is just… perfect, honestly. I mean, Via delle Lame isn’t one of those touristy streets everyone talks about, but that’s exactly why it works. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Mercato delle Erbe – and trust me, hitting up that market for fresh produce and local cheese beats any hotel breakfast buffet. The whole Bolognina neighborhood has this authentic, lived-in feel that most visitors never experience because they stick to the centro storico.

The hotel itself feels like someone actually thought about how real people travel. Check-in was refreshingly quick (no standing around for twenty minutes while they verify your passport three times), and the staff seemed to genuinely know Bologna – not just the obvious tourist spots. My room faced the courtyard, which I was initially worried about, but it turned out to be a blessing because Via delle Lame can get a bit noisy with morning traffic. The soundproofing is solid though, and honestly, there’s something kind of charming about hearing the city wake up if you’re into that. The rooms themselves strike this nice balance between modern and cozy – clean lines but not sterile, you know? The bathroom was surprisingly spacious for a European hotel, and the shower pressure was actually decent (anyone who’s traveled through Italy knows this isn’t a given).

What really won me over was how the place connects to the real Bologna. The train station is about a ten-minute walk, which sounds far but actually gives you this nice glimpse into how locals live as you wander through the residential streets. And here’s something most people don’t realize – you’re closer to some of the best osterie in the city than if you stayed in the center. There’s this little place called Osteria del Sole just fifteen minutes away on foot where locals bring their own food and buy wine by the glass. The hotel staff actually recommended it, which tells you they’re not just pushing tourist traps. The whole area feels more genuine, less performed – you’ll see families hanging laundry, old men playing cards at corner bars, that kind of thing. Sure, you’re not stumbling distance from the Two Towers, but the bus connections are solid and walking through Bologna’s porticoes is half the fun anyway. For the price point and that 8.8 rating, I can see why people keep coming back to this place.

Reviews of Stayinbologna 3

  • Comfortable apartment in the centre of the city – Jennifer from Australia – 11 June 2025 (9/10)

David, the property manager was very helpful, meeting us at the apartment when we arrived. He explained in detail how all apartment facilities worked as well as accessing the building. He also recommended places to eat as well as things to do with orientation details for the city. Following David’s directions (and not Google maps), it is an easy walk to the train and bus station.

  • Exceptional – Deborah from United States – 7 May 2025 (10/10)

We enjoyed our stay here very much! Davide was a wonderful and very flexible host, who accommodated our late arrival and gave us good directions to get to the apartment quickly. He also provided us with lots of tips for exploring the beautiful city. The apartment is very comfortable and the location is great, close to the train station as well as the city center.

Very nice apartment with easy access to restaurants and central Bologna. Very good storage for clothes etc, very good kitchen and bathroom, bed mattress a little soft.

  • Stress free. A sense of being in the right place. Easy access to the central train station and to the city centre. Not f – Daniel from Australia – 17 December 2024 (10/10)

The location and Davide our host. It was such a pleasure to deal with a host who had all the gifts of a good host: thoughtful, decisive, a businessman, not an amateur. Davide takes away all the stress and just handles things for his guests. In short, he is reliable. You feel you can turn to him for help and that he will be able to deal with it.
