Savhotel Aemilia Bologna Overview
So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Savhotel Aemilia Bologna on Via Giovanna Zaccherini Alvisi, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, it’s tucked away in this quiet residential area that doesn’t exactly scream “glamorous hotel stay.” But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made it special. The neighborhood has this authentic Bologna feel – you’re walking past actual apartment buildings where locals hang their laundry, and there’s this little bakery about three blocks down that does incredible focaccia in the mornings (I actually stumbled on it by accident while looking for coffee).
The hotel itself really surprised me. It’s got this modern, clean aesthetic that somehow doesn’t feel sterile – maybe it’s the warm lighting in the lobby or the way the staff actually remembers your name after day one. My room was on the fourth floor, and honestly, the soundproofing was impressive. Bologna can get pretty lively at night, especially when university students are out, but I barely heard anything. The bed was properly comfortable too – not too soft, not too firm – and they’ve got these blackout curtains that actually work, which is rarer than you’d think. What I really appreciated was the bathroom setup; decent water pressure and the shower didn’t flood the entire floor, which has been my experience at some other European hotels.
Here’s the thing about the location though – it’s about a 15-minute walk to the historic center, which some people might see as a drawback, but I actually loved it. You get to see parts of Bologna that most tourists miss, and the walk takes you past some great little osterie that locals frequent. Plus, there’s a bus stop literally two minutes away if you’re feeling lazy or it’s raining (which it did, twice during my stay). The hotel staff gave me this hand-drawn map with their favorite spots marked – not tourist traps, but places where they actually eat and drink. That kind of personal touch makes a difference, you know? Parking was surprisingly easy too, if you’re driving – they’ve got a small lot, and the front desk guy helped me navigate Bologna’s somewhat confusing ZTL zones without getting a ticket. I’d definitely stay here again, especially since the whole experience felt more like staying with knowledgeable locals than just checking into another anonymous hotel room.

Reviews of Savhotel Aemilia Bologna
The staff make it – Hugh from United Kingdom – 12 July 2025 (9/10)
Staff are really friendly and helpful, location was good away from the bustle of the old town. We ate in the restaurant the first night and the food was superb. Gym was OK for a hotel gym.
What could be improved: The building does not have a lot of character and isn’t in a very picturesque areaA good choice – Athina from Luxembourg – 10 July 2025 (9/10)
We had a wonderful stay at Aemilia Hotel. The room was very spacious, clean, quiet and with all the amenities needed. The bed was very comfortable. The hotel is a 15-20’ easy walk to the centre of the city and a bus stop is nearby. Bars and a supermarket are also very close.
Comfortable Stay – Michael from United States – 10 July 2025 (9/10)
All staff members were very helpful. Room was large by European standards and comfortable. Location was just outside old city which worked well for us.
What could be improved: Gym needs upgrading.Wish we could have stayed longer – Alison from Australia – 9 July 2025 (9/10)

Our go to hotel in Bologna – John from United Kingdom – 4 July 2025 (9/10)
Everything was excellent as usual. Breakfast is exceptional.
What could be improved: Missed my free drink voucher this year. But it didn't make or break my stay. Will be back for sure – Edvardas from Lithuania – 30 June 2025 (10/10)
Very good location. Awesome staff. They recommended us places for dinner and lunch and all of it were just perfect.
Spacious rooms. Comfy beds and pillows. Good WiFi.
We had dinner in the hotel the first evening and the food was extremely salty. Kids didn't eat at all. But during our check-out the lady in the reception excluded all the amount for the dinner from the room bill (even drinks, deserts and etc).Comfortable 4-star hotel with some flaws. – Peter from Hungary – 29 June 2025 (8/10)
It had a large and quite modern room with good views and a comfortable bed. The breakfast had a good selection and quality food.
What could be improved: There was no access to food or drinks during the middle of the day and the rooftop garden was very disappointing. The location was also not ideal.Lovely hotel, perfect location – Andrew from United Kingdom – 18 June 2025 (9/10)
Hotel was in a quiet residential area but a mere 15 minutes walking distance to the city centre.
What could be improved: The roof top terrace bar was very quiet, needed a bit more of a ‘vibe’.Superb – Leigh from United States – 16 June 2025 (9/10)
Comfortable modern spacious room.
What could be improved: Need a coffee maker in the room instead of powder coffee. Lunch service start too late.
