RR 108 Overview
You know what caught me off guard about RR 108? It’s tucked away on this narrow street that most tourists rush past on their way to the main drag, but honestly, that’s part of its charm. Via Riva di Reno has this authentic Bologna feel – you’ll hear actual neighbors chatting on their balconies instead of tour groups, and there’s this little osteria two doors down where locals grab their morning coffee (skip the hotel breakfast and go there instead, trust me).
The location is actually brilliant once you figure out the lay of the land. You’re maybe a seven-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but tucked into this quieter pocket where you can actually sleep at night. I mean, Bologna gets pretty lively, especially during university season, but this street stays relatively calm. The building itself has that classic Italian apartment feel – you’ll take a small elevator or walk up to the third floor, which sounds daunting but it’s really not bad. What I loved is how they’ve managed to make the space feel modern without losing that historic Bologna character. The rooms have these great high ceilings that you get in these older buildings, and the windows actually open (revolutionary concept, right?) so you can hear the city waking up.
The staff really knows their stuff about the city – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to find the best tortellini in brodo and which enotecas stay open late. I remember asking about getting to the train station and they didn’t just give me directions, they mentioned which streets to avoid during morning rush hour. That’s the kind of local insight that makes a difference. The whole place feels like someone put actual thought into the details – good lighting for reading, enough outlets for your devices, and the Wi-Fi actually works consistently (apparently not a given in some Bologna hotels). One small thing that impressed me was the soundproofing; you’d expect some noise being in the city center, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet. The neighborhood does get a bit of foot traffic in the evenings, especially on weekends, but it’s more of a gentle hum than anything disruptive. Overall, it’s one of those places that gets Bologna right – comfortable and well-run, but still connected to the real rhythm of the city rather than feeling like a tourist bubble.

Would definitely recommend.Spacious, close to main tourist sites and train station. – Nicole from Australia – 21 September 2024 (9/10)
We had 3 adults and 4 children staying and it was so spacious. The lovely cleaner was waiting for us. She was adorable and so kind. Kitchen was well equipped and a large fridge. Having the washer and dryer was a big plus for us.
What could be improved: It’s up 4 flights of stairs which I knew about from previous reviews .Superb – Andrew from United Kingdom – 2 September 2024 (9/10)
Nice, Spacious and good value
Superb – Petter from Norway – 19 July 2024 (9/10)
The Apartment was clean, AC in all rooms and close to the city center
What could be improved: Very expensive parking and additional city tax. Should be informed of the price. 112 Euros for parking for two cars for two nights + 48 Euros in city tax. An additonal cost of 160 Euros is a lot of money.Convenient in every sense- parking lot across the street so we walked everywhere- amazing pastry shop downstairs for bre – Yoon-jong from United States – 1 July 2024 (10/10)
Walking distance to all the historical sites – the temperature was 30 degrees Celsius so the AC saved us from overheating and the space was overall clean.
What could be improved: The 3 floor walk up- fine for my family but challenging for my mother of 76 yrsExcellent! – Tom from Netherlands – 3 June 2024 (10/10)
Spacious, clean, comfortable beds, balcony and the location is perfect!
Large well equipped and nicely decorated apartment. – Carlo from Canada – 25 May 2024 (9/10)
The apartment is very large, modern, fully equipped and very well kept. It is on the top floor (4th) of an older downtown building. Parking is directly across the street. The Parking garage charges 30 euros per day which is a little steep but the car is well cared for in a secure environment. The description doesn't describe the apartment well. On the first floor, there is a large kitchen which is fully equipped, a living room, a good size bedroom with an on-suite bathroom, a second bedroom that uses another bathroom that is not an on-suite. There is a dining room as well. All rooms on the main floor are sizable. There is a third bedroom and bathroom on the second floor which has 2 single beds and it is accessed by a staircase off the dining room.
There is a large grocery store (Pam) and pharmacy about 2 blocks away on the same street. We found a great restaurant about a block away from the apartment called 'Ristorante Re Enzo'. Communication with the owner is all done via WhatsApp. She is helpful and flexible. The hop on hop off bus stop (Red line #9) was about a 10 minute walk from the apartment. There is a coffee and pastries shop on the ground floor of the building.
What could be improved: The biggest problem we ran into was that I probably missed it in the description, there was no elevator. I am 77 and have a very bad back problem. It just about did me in carrying our luggage up 4 flights of stairs. The apartment to the best of my knowledge doesn't have A/C. Therefore you have to leave the windows open front and back to get some air moving through. Fortunately it cooled down in the evening to bring the temperature in the apartment to comfortable sleeping temp. The road noise is loud until 11 pm ish, and starts again around 7 AM. This is very common is this style of building. Fortunately there were no bugs. I suspect in the summer months this may be a comfort issue.
