When I first pulled up to Via Francesco Todaro – which, by the way, is this quiet residential street that most tourists never find – I wasn’t expecting much. But honestly? This place gets it right where a lot of vacation rentals fall short.

The apartment itself has that lived-in Italian charm without feeling like someone’s messy spare room. You know what I mean – proper furniture that doesn’t look like it came from a hotel liquidation sale, a kitchen where you can actually cook (not just heat up leftovers), and windows that open wide enough to let in those amazing morning sounds of Bologna waking up. The Montagnola area is sort of this hidden gem that locals love but tourists skip – you’re close enough to walk to the centro storico in about twenty minutes, but far enough out that you’re not dealing with the late-night party crowds around Via del Pratello. I mean, you can still hear the city, but it’s more like a gentle hum than constant chaos.

What really sold me was the neighborhood vibe. There’s this little alimentari just around the corner where the owner actually remembers your face after two visits, and the morning coffee scene at the bar down the street is pure Bologna – none of that tourist markup nonsense. The apartment’s location puts you right in the sweet spot for exploring – the train station is a quick bus ride if you’re day-tripping to Florence or Milan, and you’re walking distance to some seriously good osterie that don’t have English menus (always a good sign). Parking was actually manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a miracle. The building itself is typical Italian residential – thick walls, so you’re not hearing your neighbors’ entire lives, though the elevator is one of those charmingly ancient ones that makes you wonder about its last safety inspection. Check-in was smooth, no weird key-pickup drama at some random office across town like you get with some rental companies. The 8.2 rating makes sense – it’s not luxury, but it’s solid, comfortable, and real. You’re staying in Bologna, not some sanitized version of it.

  Good location near the bus and train stn for easy commute to F1 and points of interest.
  Spacious rooms, has 2 full baths and 3 bedrooms
  
  What could be improved: 3rd bedroom is kids, single bed and crib. One bath door doesn’t lock from inside, the flush is tricky to use.
  No dishwasher in the kitchen, so you have to wash dishes. Also limited utensils available, not sufficient for family with kids.
  Has only one garbage bag and bin, so how would we segregate waste? Also need to dump trash couple of blocks away before leaving.
  No supplies, not even basic cleaning, no washer liquid for clothes, one bath towel per person, no extras.
  For the money they charged, it should be lot better, hence the low rating.

  The apartment was very spacious and comfortable. There was two big bathrooms which was also useful with 5 people staying there. It was clean and the location was convenient, especially if you wanted to visit other cities as the coach station was 1 minute walk away from the apartment. It was about 10 minute walk to the main centre. The host was very friendly and helpful.
  
  What could be improved: a few things were broken when we arrived, such as a socket hanging out of the wall and the curtain rail hanging off the windows (which subsequently fell off) and one bathroom had a bad smell – air freshener sorted.

• Lovely place to stay in Bologna – Koder from United Kingdom – 18 September 2024 (8/10)

  Lovely spacious and bright flat close to a supermarket and the city centre. Comfortable beds and sofas. Easy to get there on a bus or walking from the station. The lift was useful and it was a quiet block. Someone came to supply a plug for the bath when we notified them that it was missing.
  
  What could be improved: No microwave or toaster was surprising as this is surely a must for a holiday let!
  Only one tea towel and one scrubbing sponge supplied but no cloth or cleaning fluids for kitchen and bathroom. Only a couple of bin bags were supplied for 5 days even though we had to separate rubbish. The public bins are 4-5 minutes walk from the property. We had to remove all the rubbish from the flat at the risk of incurring further charges.
  City tax of €4 per person per night was requested by the agent to be paid in cash with no receipt to prove it went to the correct council office. It should be included in the price.
  There's a music club nearby so it was quite noisy on Friday, Saturday and Sunday night until the early hours… however, this only affects the front bedroom and it was drowned out by our using the fan all night!
  No working lock for the shower bathroom so it was a bit difficult with 2 couples staying.
  It was great to have 2 bathrooms!

  This is a very spacious apartment. It is located on the first floor. It is very convenient for walking into town and very close to shops, restaurants and bars.
