Realkasa Azeglio Apartments Overview

You know what struck me first about Realkasa Azeglio Apartments? The building itself has this perfectly weathered Bologna character — not trying too hard to be boutique-y, just solid and real. It’s tucked right on Via d’Azeglio, which honestly is one of those streets that feels properly Italian without being touristy. You’re in Saragozza, and I mean, if you know Bologna at all, you know this puts you in a sweet spot where locals actually live and work.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious — and I say surprising because, well, European city stays can be pretty cramped. But these feel like actual homes, not hotel rooms pretending to be apartments. The kitchens are functional enough that you could actually cook (though honestly, with all the incredible food around here, why would you?). What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re close to everything. The street gets some traffic during the day, but nothing that kept me up at night. The whole setup just works — you get that independence of having your own space, but there’s still proper hotel service when you need it.

Here’s the thing about the location that the booking sites don’t really capture: you’re about a fifteen-minute walk to the university area, which means great energy and tons of places to eat that won’t break the bank. But you’re also close enough to the centro storico that you can easily wander over to see the towers or grab aperitivo in Piazza Maggiore. The 7.9 rating feels about right — it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid and reliable. I had a small issue with the shower pressure in my unit, nothing major, just something to keep in mind. The staff was genuinely helpful though, not that overly formal hotel politeness, more like they actually cared about sorting things out. Bologna in general has this wonderful rhythm to it, and staying at Realkasa Azeglio kind of plugs you right into that flow. You’ll end up walking the same routes as people who live here, shopping at the same little alimentari, probably becoming a regular at whatever bar you choose for your morning coffee. It’s that kind of place.

Reviews of Realkasa Azeglio Apartments

  • Discover Bologna – Mihaela from France – 4 July 2025 (8/10)

Marcello is a very nice and welcome person. The location was great to discover the city , lots of restaurants and bars nearby. It was quite at night and very lively during the day/ evening. Piazza Maggiore very closed as well.

What could be improved: The bedding downstairs and the kitchen is very basic if you intend to cook. There are many places to get food though within a walking distance. The pictures are those for 2 flats and deserve more détails regarding the one you choose.

  • Overall very positive – Katie from United Kingdom – 12 May 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location and communication with the hosts. Lovely big space and quiet.

What could be improved: The downstairs bed mattresses were quite old and soft. The bathroom drain smell got increasingly worse. The washing machine was temperamental.

  • Great location – Victotia from United States – 17 March 2025 (8/10)

Great location, clean and very confortable.

What could be improved: There didn’t live anything in the kitchen , not even a coffee or water. It’s good to receive the guest with something.
The lamps on the table room were not working neither the boiling water in the kitchen. It is located on a fourth floor without elevator .

  • I loved it ther and hope to return in the Autumn. – Geoffrey from United Kingdom – 19 February 2025 (9/10)

It is well furnished and very central with superb views.

What could be improved: Fourth floor and no lift, but one is being installed.
Also sound proofing is poor so neighbours and you need to be quiet or sound proofing improved

  • Perfect! – Ivi from Greece – 12 February 2025 (9/10)

The apartment is in a perfect location just 200 metres from Piazza Maggiore.
Also very comfortable and beautiful inside!

  • Good – Paul from United Kingdom – 13 January 2025 (7/10)

    Location was excellent.

What could be improved: Property was dated in bits and would benefit from being freshened up

  • This apartment had what I needed for a week stay in the city of Bologna. – India from United States – 23 August 2024 (8/10)

The apartment was is a great location, about a 5 minute walk from the central square. Many restaurants and shops nearby to engage in if that is an interest or desire of individuals staying at this location.

What could be improved: As mentioned by other reviews there truly are many stairs to walk up. I brushed it off at first, but would truly consider how you will feel bringing all your luggage up when you first arrive and down once you depart from the apartment. Now if you have many individuals staying with you it may not be a problem, but in addition to the luggage you, yourself, will have to go up and down these stairs each and everyday. For insight there are four flights of stairs before your arrive to the apartment. Not a deal breaker, but something to consider when you're envisioning your stay.

  • Great location, clean and tidy. Bologna was beautiful. – Danielle from United Kingdom – 18 August 2024 (8/10)

Location was fantastic. Beautiful furniture in the apartment. Very spacious.

What could be improved: Not many amenities (no tea, sugar, or a coffee machine). The double bed upstairs is two single beds so not super comfy. It was unbearably hot at night in the loft, the AC didn’t do much and one of us ended up sleeping on the couch. The listing needs to mention that you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs.

  • Overall we’re grateful for our staying in centre. Bologna it’s very beautiful and the people had a joyful energy. – Veronika from Bulgaria – 18 February 2024 (7/10)

The view! The place was cozy and very stylish! In the centre of the city it’s close to everything and very practical.

What could be improved: The stairs were too many! The double bed was two single beds united so it was very hard to sleep because they were continuously separating from each other and we were falling down the bed.

  • central location, clean and cosy – Fabien from Malta – 14 June 2023 (9/10)

central location close to Piazza Maggiore, clean, comfortable and bright apartment. host Emilia was helpful, flexible with timing and very friendly.

What could be improved: there are missing blackout curtains in the bedroom plus the skylight blackout doesn’t close properly making it impossible to sleep beyond 0630hrs. to note that this is a 3rd flirt apartment without an elevator.
