Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Bologna apartments, and Montegrappa absolutely nails what most places get wrong. You’re on the seventh floor of this elegant building on Via Monte Grappa – and honestly, that elevator ride up gives you this anticipation that the place actually delivers on. The moment you step inside, there’s this immediate sense of space and light that’s rare in Bologna’s historic center. The windows are these beautiful, tall things that let in gorgeous morning light, and you can actually see over the terracotta rooftops toward the hills on clear days.

What really got me was how thoughtfully everything’s set up. I mean, you know how some vacation rentals feel like someone just threw furniture together? Not here. The kitchen actually has proper counter space – shocking, I know – and there’s this little breakfast nook where you can sit with your coffee and plan your day without feeling cramped. The bathroom’s modern without being sterile, and the shower pressure is honestly better than my place back home. Plus, the bed is one of those situations where you wake up and think “okay, maybe I could live here.” The whole vibe is sophisticated but not stuffy, if that makes sense.

The location is where this place really shines though. Via Monte Grappa puts you right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore in about eight minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos that you can actually sleep at night. There’s this fantastic little osteria called Da Cesari just around the corner that locals actually go to – not some tourist trap – and the morning market on Via Ugo Bassi is literally a five-minute stroll. You’ll find yourself walking past the same elderly signora who sells the best peaches every morning, and she’ll start recognizing you by day three. That’s the kind of neighborhood experience you get here that you’d miss in some generic hotel. The building itself is quiet (those thick Italian walls, you know), and the other residents seem to be a mix of locals and respectful long-term visitors, so there’s never any hallway drama or party noise. Honestly, at a 9.6 rating, I expected it to be good, but this place genuinely feels like someone’s elegant Bologna home that they’re letting you borrow for a while.

  Lovely well-equipped apartment right in the centre of Bologna. Despite being so central it is very quiet and peaceful. Very secure. The balcony gets the sun all day and it was lovely to relax there in the morning and after days out and about enjoying Bologna and surrounding area.
  Communication from host was excellent. So helpful. Check-in instructions and information provided about the area, restaurants etc was first class.

  The view is absolutely amazing! Property was very clean. Beds were most comfortable so far for any of our stays. Very close to main Piazza Maggiore and downtown. Easy to get everywhere. Great restaurants and gelato everywhere. Hostess was very kind and provided a lot of recommendations-very quick to respond.
  
  What could be improved: The second bathroom very small, but kids used it to brush teeth and shared the main shower of main bath.

  The apartment was great, very clean and the rooftop terrace was amazing. They provided some extra comforts like espresso pods and detergent sheets for the washing machine. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was very homey. Thankfully there was a lift as well! The apartment was centrally located and in a great area for exploration.
