Millennhotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Millennhotel on Via Cesare Boldrini, you get that immediate sense that you’ve found something solid — not flashy, but genuinely welcoming. This three-star property sits in one of those perfectly positioned spots where you’re close enough to everything that matters in Bologna, but tucked away from the tourist chaos. The entrance has a clean, understated elegance that honestly feels more personal than corporate, which I really appreciated after dealing with some of the bigger chain hotels in the area.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s what I mean about the location being special — you’re literally in the heart of Bologna, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. The hotel scored an 8.9 for location, and I can see why couples especially love it here (they rated it 8.8 for romantic trips). You can walk to the main piazzas and the university district without breaking a sweat, but when you want to escape the crowds, you’re on a quieter street that feels more residential. I found myself taking different routes each day just to explore the neighborhood — there are these little osterie and cafes tucked into corners that you’d never find if you were staying in the touristy center.
The Room Experience
My room was exactly what you’d expect from a well-run three-star place — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully arranged without any unnecessary frills. The beds are actually good quality (you know how hit-or-miss that can be), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. What struck me was how quiet it was at night, despite being so central — the windows do a solid job of keeping the street noise out. The bathroom was recently updated, which shows they’re putting money back into maintaining the property rather than just coasting on that great location.
Breakfast and Daily Rhythms
The breakfast setup is continental and buffet style, and while it’s not going to blow your mind, it’s definitely substantial enough to fuel a day of wandering around Bologna. They do the Italian breakfast thing well — good coffee, fresh pastries, and enough variety that you won’t get bored if you’re staying several days. I actually started looking forward to the morning routine there, sitting in their breakfast area and planning out which parts of the city to tackle next. The staff seems to recognize faces quickly — there are apparently more repeat guests here than at most other properties, which tells you something about how people feel about coming back.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is that balance between being centrally located and genuinely comfortable. You’re not paying for unnecessary extras, but you’re also not sacrificing quality or convenience. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the good stuff — not just the obvious tourist spots, but the places where locals actually eat and hang out. For the price point and the location, it’s one of those finds that makes you feel like you got the better end of the deal, especially in a city where accommodation can get expensive quickly.

Very good – Katarina from Belgium – 16 June 2025 (8/10)
Good location near the train station, overall adequate.
What could be improved: The interior of the hotel is very dated, so much so that it will soon be considered as vintage 🙂 (60-ties? 70-ties max)
The staff is nice, but a little blasé – cannot provide an emergency toothbrush or a printed invoice that features the name of the hotel :-), badly functioning internet not really their problem….Great location and breakfast – Linda from Australia – 14 June 2025 (9/10)
Great location near train station
Very good breakfast
Rooms serviced daily
What could be improved: At checkout we were charged for bottled water in fridge, which we had assumed was complimentary.
