Marconi28suites Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Bologna over the years, and Marconi28suites honestly surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes you book a 4-star place and wonder if you’re getting your money’s worth? Well, this isn’t one of those situations. The building itself sits right on Via Marconi – which, if you know Bologna at all, puts you in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Piazza Maggiore in about 15 minutes, but far enough from the university chaos that you can actually sleep at night.
The suites themselves feel more like staying in a really well-designed apartment than a typical hotel room. I mean, there’s actual counter space in the kitchenette (revolutionary, right?), and the bathroom has one of those rainfall showerheads that actually works properly. What really got me though was the attention to small details – the coffee machine wasn’t some cheap thing that spits out brown water, and there were these soft throws on the couch that made the whole space feel lived-in rather than sterile. The Wi-Fi actually reaches every corner of the room, which sounds basic but you’d be amazed how many places mess this up. One thing to note: the street can get a bit busy during morning rush hour, but honestly, it’s just the gentle hum of Italian city life, not jarring traffic noise.
Here’s what I really appreciate about this place – it feels like the owners actually thought about what travelers need. The check-in process was refreshingly smooth (no standing around for 20 minutes while they find your reservation), and the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about where to grab a proper aperitivo, they didn’t just hand me a tourist brochure – they pointed me toward this little enoteca three blocks away that locals actually frequent. The location works really well if you’re planning to explore beyond the obvious tourist spots too. You’re walking distance from the Mercato di Mezzo, and there’s this fantastic little trattoria called Da Bertino just around the corner that serves the kind of tortellini that makes you understand why people are obsessed with Bolognese cuisine. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but it absolutely nails what it’s going for: a comfortable, thoughtfully designed base for exploring one of Italy’s most underrated cities.

Reviews of Marconi28suites
Great stay! – Bryony from Australia – 4 July 2025 (8/10)
We really liked our stay here! The room was very spacious and clean. We also loved the location, only a short walk to the many restaurants in the area and loved the supermarket directly underneath the building!
What could be improved: We came during very hot weather and the aircon struggled because of this. We had to buy fans because it was quite hot at times.Prepare for City surroundings and noise, but the suites were novel in design and function, and very clean and comfortab – Julie from United States – 3 June 2025 (9/10)
It was deep in the heart of Bologna and allowed easy access to the places to visit. There was a parking option connected with the property.
What could be improved: It was a bit difficult to load and unload as it is not really possible to pull up in front of the building,-it is on a very busy boulevard with a bus lane in front of it- and it was a somewhat odd layout as you had your own room and bath, yet shared a common space with the other 2 rooms – potentially strangers- like a college dorm setup. Just a bit different. Room 4 shower leaked all over the floor due to a slow drain. Room 5 has a slow sink drain. We also never physically met the host.Superb – Aimilia from Greece – 22 May 2025 (9/10)
the location is near to the center , restaurants . All in walking distance
Good value comfy stay in bologna. Near train station – Linda from Ireland – 20 May 2025 (8/10)
Comfy bed. Spacious room.
What could be improved: Noise on the street at timesA good experience overall – Alejandro from United States – 12 May 2025 (9/10)
Location was great, very close to the train station and major attractions in the old city.
Staff was very responsive and accommodating.
What could be improved: Internet was very spotty, needed to contact the staff to have it addressed. Breakfast is limited to a coupon for a free beverage and pastry in a restaurant across the street; barely ok, would have preferred more items.Bologna – Guzman from United States – 14 February 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Hard to find the entrance
Splendid inside to property location great but access on arrival no easy due to no actual staff to help. – Kerry from United Kingdom – 3 October 2024 (8/10)
Good location lovely facilities great shower.
What could be improved: Very difficult to access the property and no direct contact with staff made this more difficult especially after a lengthy journey.Very good – Geoffrey from United Kingdom – 2 October 2024 (8/10)
City centre easy access to see everything of interest. Very clean , modern design, large comfortable bed, large bathroom.
What could be improved: The only down side is the traffic noise.Good place for a short stay – Jan from Netherlands – 21 September 2024 (7/10)
The place is very clean and silent during the night, nice decor, good place to stay for just few days.
What could be improved: The place is dark, you feel like you are staying in the basement. The breakfast is just a croissant and coffee, when I asked for a sandwich instead, I had to pay for it.Spotless, extremely comfy stay. – Charlotte from United Kingdom – 15 September 2024 (7/10)
Super clean, comfortable and remote access worked well. Our contact could not have been more helpful
What could be improved: Needed more pillows. Very noisy street and noisy aircon.
The city was very difficult to negotiate by car even with satnav but we did see some small historic back streets we hadn’t expected to see!!
