You know what caught me off guard about M.G. Home 2? The name makes it sound like some generic guesthouse, but honestly, this place feels more like staying at your stylish Italian friend’s apartment – if your friend happened to have impeccable taste and lived in one of Bologna’s most walkable neighborhoods. I mean, Via Beniamino Gigli isn’t exactly a street tourists stumble upon, but that’s actually what makes it perfect. It’s tucked into this residential pocket where you’ll hear actual Bolognese families going about their morning routines instead of rolling suitcases at 6 AM.

The location is sort of brilliant when you think about it. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore (and I actually timed it), but you’re far enough from the centro storico chaos that you can sleep with the windows open without hearing drunk study abroad students at 2 AM. There’s this little alimentari right around the corner where the owner – Giuseppe, I think – will slice you the most incredible mortadella you’ve ever tasted, and the 14 bus stops practically at your door if you need to get to the train station. Parking was surprisingly manageable too, which anyone who’s driven in Bologna will tell you is basically a miracle.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how the owners actually seem to get what travelers need. The apartment itself feels lived-in but not worn down – you know that sweet spot where everything works perfectly but doesn’t feel sterile? The kitchen actually has proper knives and more than two plates, the shower has decent water pressure (trust me on this one), and there’s this great little balcony where you can drink your morning coffee while watching the city wake up. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout, which matters when you’re trying to figure out train schedules or book that restaurant everyone keeps talking about. I stayed during shoulder season in October, and the heating worked perfectly – no fighting with temperamental radiators or anything like that. The 9.2 rating honestly makes sense when you add up all these little details that most places get wrong. It’s not fancy in that over-the-top hotel way, but it’s comfortable in that “I could actually live here for a month” way, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience Bologna like a local instead of just checking boxes off a tourist list.

  Cosy and comfortable appartment with big rooms and fully equipped kitchen. The host was very welcoming, providing timely information and responding quickly even in a relatively late check-in. The parking spot is also very good. The city centre can be reached in about 10-15 min by bus.

  The space, wow! The apartament is sooo big and you even have the balcony. The owner is super nice, would totally stay here for longer!

  Good location , clean and equipped apartments with everything you need, comfortable bed.
  Complimentary bottle of wine of arrival ,coffee machine with capsules .Very nice host, polite and friendly , he helped us with all our questions and arranged our leisure time.

  The apartment is very clean and modern. Compared to other places we had stayed in, you can tell the host has taken time to look after this apartment. The host is incredibly attentive, and is always online, so you will always get a reply. Parking was not a problem at all. We highly recommend staying in this apartment. Wifi was also great.
