You know what struck me first about La Corte del Pratello? The location is actually perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in Bologna rather than just visiting it. I mean, Via del Pratello is this amazing street that locals genuinely love – it’s got that authentic university vibe without being touristy or pretentious. The hotel sits right in the heart of it all, and honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better spot to base myself. You’re basically a five-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, but you’re also surrounded by these incredible little osterie and bars that fill up with Bolognese students and young professionals every evening. The street itself gets pretty lively (especially on weekends), but the hotel’s set back just enough that you won’t be kept awake by the chatter from the bars below.

The building itself feels like someone took a traditional Bolognese palazzo and updated it thoughtfully – you can tell they put real effort into preserving the character while making it actually comfortable for modern travelers. The rooms have this warm, lived-in elegance that I really appreciated. Not overly fancy, but everything works perfectly and the beds are genuinely comfortable. I stayed in one of the rooms facing the courtyard, and there’s something really peaceful about having that quiet internal space while being right in the middle of such a vibrant neighborhood. The staff clearly knows the area well – they pointed me toward this tiny place called Osteria del Sole (maybe a two-minute walk) where you bring your own food but they serve the wine, which is such a Bologna thing that I never would have discovered on my own.

What really sold me on this place, though, is how it captures that specific Bologna energy. During the day, you can walk out the front door and grab incredible coffee at any of the bars nearby, then wander through the Quadrilatero market area or just people-watch from one of the benches in the little piazzas. The hotel feels like it belongs in this neighborhood rather than being dropped into it, if that makes sense. Sure, it’s not the cheapest option in the city, but honestly? For the location and the quality, it’s completely worth it. Plus, if you’re someone who likes to experience a city’s nightlife, you literally just have to walk downstairs – Via del Pratello transforms into this fantastic little bar scene every evening, and you can stumble back to your room without dealing with taxis or late-night logistics. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to really soak up Bologna’s student quarter atmosphere while still having a proper, comfortable place to retreat to.

  Lovely location walking distance to everything. A very lively street but the apartment is back behind three gates and in a very lush and quiet courtyard. So very quiet! Well supplied kitchenette, large main room with a large dining table. Comfortable and cozy. Very responsive and available hosts. We felt well taken care of. We would return.
