La Casa delle Dee – Self Check-in Overview
You know what struck me first about La Casa delle Dee? The name alone had me curious – “House of Goddesses” – and honestly, it lives up to that dramatic promise. Tucked into Via Irnerio in Bologna’s university district, this place feels like someone’s incredibly stylish aunt decided to open her apartment to travelers. The self check-in thing had me slightly worried (I mean, what if something goes wrong?), but it’s actually genius here. You get the codes, waltz right in, and boom – you’re settled without that awkward front desk dance. The whole building has this gorgeous Italian residential vibe, the kind where you peek through the entrance and see those classic Bologna courtyards that make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a movie set.
What really gets me about this spot is how it sits right in the thick of things without feeling touristy. Via Irnerio runs straight toward the university area, so you’ve got that vibrant student energy during the day, but it quiets down nicely in the evenings. I’d walk five minutes and hit Via Zamboni – that’s where all the good aperitivo spots are, by the way – or head the other direction toward the historic center. The rooms themselves… well, they’ve nailed that sweet spot between boutique hotel elegance and apartment comfort. Everything feels deliberately chosen, from the linens to the lighting, but not in that sterile designer way. More like someone actually lives here and has impeccable taste. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re inside – it’s those little touches that add up. Good water pressure (crucial!), blackout curtains that actually work, and WiFi that doesn’t cut out every time someone in the next room opens TikTok.
Here’s the thing about staying in this part of Bologna – you’re genuinely living like a local. Morning coffee at the bar downstairs (there’s always a good bar downstairs in these neighborhoods), groceries at the market on Via Ugo Bassi, evening strolls through Piazza Maggiore when the light hits those medieval buildings just right. The self check-in means you come and go as you please, which is perfect for those long Italian dinners that somehow stretch until midnight. Sure, if you’re the type who needs concierge service and turndown mints, this might not be your speed. But if you want to feel like you’ve got a gorgeous pied-à-terre in one of Italy’s most underrated cities, La Casa delle Dee delivers exactly that. Plus, let’s be honest – with a 4-star rating and that location, you’re getting serious value for what you’d pay for something far less charming in Rome or Florence.

Everything was very nice, the 2 major plus of the room for me were: the bed that was very comfortable and the shower.
The location was perfect: close to the train station and close to the historical center.
The candies available at the entrance were welcome at the beginning or the end of our days !
We exchanged few messages with our host Mary who was very nice !
Thank you for the stay.

Mary was helpful with all my questions and concernsExceptional – Hanna from United States – 16 June 2025 (10/10)
Mary went above and beyond in every way possible. I was going to a concert in Bologna, a friend decided to join me. No problem. GLS had emailed me to say they would hold my concert tickets but they sent them to this location 🫠 No problem for Mary! She located the tickets and coordinated with my friend to get them as I was still at the GLS office. Mary is a stellar host! I cannot say enough good things about her. The room was also comfortable, clean, and centrally located. I highly recommend La Casa delle Dee to anyone visiting Bologna.

A perfect stay in Bologna
We stayed at La Casa Delle Dee and couldn’t be happier with our choice. The place was spotless, very spacious, and in a great location—close to everything you need to enjoy the city.
Maria, the host, was absolutely wonderful. She stayed in touch with us the entire time, helped with every question we had, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She even offered us complimentary coffee and croissants for breakfast, which was such a thoughtful touch.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and kind hospitality in Bologna. Thank you for everything, Maria!
What could be improved: Hard with three luggage to go to the third floor but we manageLovely room in walking distance to the center! – Verena from Germany – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
The room is in a very good location to explore Bologna by day and night! Lots of foodspots just around the corner and about 5 to 10 minutes walking distance into the city center! The rooms itself are newly renovated with love to every detail!
Mary was very helpful with parking our car (there is a parking lot available), spots to enjoy food or drinks throughout the day and with every other issue we had!
We had a great start of our roadtrip!Exceptional – Cristian from Canada – 24 May 2025 (10/10)
Newly renovated rooms on the 4th floor of an older building. Nice, modern decoration. Clean and quiet. Very nice and helpful hosts. If you are driving, there is one parking spot in the inner courtyard. It is in the ZTL but the host helps you with getting the permit and the access route.
